'Big America' comes to McDonald's Japan. Plus bacon photo

Ah, McDonald's. It's a quintessentially "American" franchise, but global enough to develop a unique identity for nearly every market it claws its way into.

Following up on the Quarter Pounder's Japanese launch, the House of Ronald (and Mr. James) plans to distend Glorious Nippon's gut with four new Quarter Pounder varieties, all promising a uniquely "Big American" taste. Plus bacon.

The Texas Burger contains mustard relish, fried onions and barbecue sauce. Plus bacon. The California Burger combines spicy cheese, tomato slices, and some kind of red wine sauce. Plus bacon. The Burger New York is pretty much a standard burger save for the choice of Monterey Jack cheese. Plus bacon. And the Hawaiian Burger channels the classic "Loco-Moco"-style meal by using an egg and gravy sauce. Plus bacon.

I can't speak for the other regional burgers, but having moved to California relatively recently, I would argue that there's enough asian influence around here that they could sell the McRice burger instead and get a better "native" feel. Plus bacon.

dont steal my rice burger idea.

its buns with chicken patty, bacon, onion, a ring of capsicum, a leaf of lettuce to hold the rice in and chilli baby bamboo shoots.

i havent been able to convince anyone to buy it from me yet, but its damn delicious.
Authentic American taste, huh? Call me when they create a Cajun burger.

Plus bacon.
Eh, I'm amazed at how authentic the Hawaiian burger attempt is. Loco-moco style with egg and gravy? Now why don't they actually sell that here?

At least they didn't put pineapple on it. PUTTING PINEAPPLE ON SOMETHING DOES NOT MAKE IT HAWAIIAN, PEOPLE.
@Mahina: I think you can get one similar to that at IHOP.
i miss the western burger from jack in the box =/
Incidentally, Ronald McDonald is the 2nd most popular figure to children, 2nd only to Santa.
@kamanashi: Thanks for the tip. Is that IHOP nationwide or IHOP Hawaii? There are only like, five locations here statewide (compared to five in the city where I go to school alone.)
Call me when they're selling In-n-Out burgers.

Plus bacon
Dang some of those actually sound tasty. If those burgers came out here, I might have to revoke my self imposed ban on eating at McDonald's at any time except breakfast.
Ah, hold on... if this looks this bad on the picture... imagine how bad it will look when you order it :O
Oh, my. They're trying to outsource the obesity "epidemic" to Japan. I am disappoint.
