Studio Ghibli have quite a year planned for us, especially this summer! The world renowned anime studio will actually be releasing two features simultaneously. First up will be Hayao Miyazaki's Kaze Tachinu, a story focusing on a Zero fighter plane pilot during World War II. If that wasn't spectacular news by itself, the studio will also be releasing the Japanese folklore inspired, Kaguya Hime no Monogatari, which has Isao Takahata at the helm. You probably know his work best from the brilliant, but hard to swallow Grave of the Fireflies.
I'm expecting the works to be just as different as when My Neighborhood Totoro and Grave of the Fireflies were released together back in 1988. It was an amazing and pivotal year for Studio Ghibli, and I hope 2013 brings similar gifts!
