I consider it very fortunate that dying in an MMO doesn't actually kill you in real life, or else who lot of people would be dropping like flies on a pretty consistent basis.
Sword Art Online is the next franchise to take on this idea, set to air on Japanese television come July 7. I'm looking forward to covering the show as I loved the .hack series back in the day and am intrigued by Accel World. Sword Art Online comes from the same author who penned the latter series, so expect some similarities in terms of world development.
The official SAO website updated with a brand new trailer for the series and if it's any indication of the overall quality of the series, it would seem as though action/adventure fans are in for a treat. The combat looks fast and furious and the whole thing smells like a high budget production. Attractive character designs and music by Yuki Kajiura (Fate/Zero, Garden of Sinners) means we can at least count on Sword Art Online being a feast for the eyes and ears.
I'm definitely looking forward to digging into this one. Anybody else excited?
Check out the trailer after the break!
