Perhaps not everyone at Japanator likes K-ON!! (the sequel to the greatest anime of the decade), but if there's one thing everyone here does like, it's 8-bit remixes. What happens when it's a song I happen to dislike? Somehow it becomes better! Yes, this version pleases everyone: if you hate the season 2 opening, this gets rid of the chipmunk voices and keeps the catchy tune. If you already love it, well, now you have another, more retro version to love!

Sadly this one doesn't have custom visuals to go with it, but when you have shots like one in the header, it's not that big of a deal. The full YouTube video is after the break. What about you guys, have any favorite 8-bit remixes you want to share as well? The comments thread is your domain!

I lol'd at the end.
Not as good as the remake of Don't Say Lazy, but still entertaining.
I actually enjoy this OP, but this definitely makes it better. Looking forward to a full version when it hits.
Haha, sounds like something you'd hear in those Kunio-kun games. If Strike Witches can get a shmup than the least K-On! can get is a 2D brawler.

I also just listened to the full track of Go Go Manic, and while it might put me in the minority, it's probably my favorite in the series so far.

As for 8 bit music, I listen to mostly the ones from games or "chiptune" originals, but this is an awesome 8 bit cover track that I know the Japanator crew will love:

@matty,

Oh, you guys aren't in the minority. It seems most people like it. I'm probably the one in the minority.
Eh, I'm still not sure if I like the new OP or ED, but you gotta love 8bit.
Awesum
I defiantly love this more then the original.
Bad Apple is my personal favorite on the 8 bit remix scene. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gy3NCr4rX-Y
Oh and I'd be a bad person if I didn't show every this
Um for some reason it reminds me of the ninja turtles arcade game. But the 8-bit sponsor was awesome!
Epic. This made my day.
ah hell, I like it!

I feel like I should be taking on a boss with fireballs or some shit...this actually would make a decent 16-bit video game theme...

I know old link is old but I'm sure you all will like the Anime Chiptune Remix project. http://www.animeremix.org/remix/81/ It contains 14 chiptunes (in actual chiptune format) including music from gits, fma, ranma, gundam, and more.
Absolutely glorious
This is definitely an improvement. Also, I think it'd make a great Megaman stage theme- Cakeman, perhaps.
@lyfeforce: Holy shit Saitone! Great artist.

The cover is nice, I have to say. My personal favourite 8-bit covers are:
Videogame Orchestra - Island In The Sun (Belmont's Revisal): - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8xiNBh9y5E
