Vocaloid songs being fraudulently deleted from Youtube

Recently, a large amount of songs made with Vocaloid, particularly those by Hatsune Miku, are being taken down from YouTube under copyright claims. Vocaloid is simply a program, not an artist, and does allow those who create ...

Manga promotes itself by mentioning popularity on 4chan

Often regarded as the asshole of the internet, 4chan doesn't have the greatest of reputations. Without delving into it, people and companies often don't want to be associated with the anything-goes website. This makes it all ...

Saimoe 2011: Mami-san Is Kawaii! photo
Saimoe 2011: Mami-san Is Kawaii!
by Itsa Timmy

Puella Magi Madoka Magica continued to be the big story well into the finals as Mami and Kyouko both secured 53 percent of the vote to knock out Squid Girl and Ruri respectively. The only Puella Magi causality in the first round was Sayaka who was taken out by the show's protagonists, Madoka. The quarterfinals rounded out with Astarotte losing without much of a fight to Erica leaving her alone to battle the Magi onslaught.

Unfortunately it wasn't enough as Kyouko triumphed over Erica by 60 percent of the vote in the semifinals destroying any hope for a non Puella Magi as the victor. Madoka's and Mami's semifinal match was in contrast much closer as fans couldn't decide on which magical girl they wanted to see advance. Unfortunately Madoka's run at the title was ultimately cut short as Mami edged ahead in the end by a mere 15 votes leaving Mami and Kyouko to face each other in the final.

Initially I was a bit surprised to see Mami snatch the victory away from Kyouko but in hindsight despite her limited screen time she had a big part in many of the most memorable moments of the show. That or it could be her good looks and cheerful tea drinking attitude that secured the win for her, who knows. Either way, Mami is awesome so check out the gallery of her to celebrate.

Now that another year of Saimoe has wrapped up what do you guys think? Do you find Mami-san a suitable victor or did you have someone else you were rooting for?

Also a big thanks goes out to http://www.animesaimoe.org/ for all the stuff they do as well as the fans who make Saimoe entertaining as hell.

Saimoe 2011: Elite Eight and the home stretch

I'll be the first to admit: A lot of things happened during this year's 2ch Saimoe tournament and it flashed by before I could've seized the moment and write it up. Perhaps with the quarterfinal redraw break we can regroup an...

Remember, Nano, when I said I'd remove your screw last?

...I lied. Way to go, Nichijou! I'm bawlin' like a baby because of tonight's finale, now here's some harmless Commando MADs! Hit the jump for another OP, and look out for a Final Impression of the series soon (hot tip: I write stuff like "I loved it").

Saimoe 2011 returns with round 1, tough pick off the bat photo
Saimoe 2011 returns with round 1, tough pick off the bat
by Jeff Chuang

A little later than previous years, but Saimoe round one has begin in earnest today. Those Japanese otaku returning from Comiket or Oban break are now hammering the code-generating server, because not only I can't get a code from the server, but also two hot picks are already going head-to-head today. And this is just the first three actual matches!

We've already had a taste of the nomination and preliminary rounds. The queens are seated (and one time paradox he-she-it's-a-trap), who will you pick? Will Biribiri advance on the strong Index II ticket or will newcomer HomuHomu make a stand on the incredible Madoka bandwagon? Perhaps more interestingly, who will they stomp over collectively? Click on and find out more!
