Otakon 2014 flew by last weekend, in usual form, cramming way more content than what one can expect within a simple weekend. The cosplayers are out and baffling the crowd. The local baseball program even talked about it, and what kind of pictures the broadcasters can take if they were perusing the convention halls.

At the East Coast's biggest cons, major franchises struck somewhat of a balance. No one show dominated the other, probably because with Sailor Moon making a comeback, there is a bandwagon for everyone. Check out the gallery below!

Otakon 2014 charms Baltimore this weekend

The biggest East Coast anime con, Otakon, happens this weekend. It'll be, for once, not deathly hot and humid in the Baltimore Inner Harbor, perhaps, but the weather wasn't ever going to stop anyone. As per usual a lot of gue...

Otakon '13: An Interview with Oreimo's creators
by Jeff Chuang

To get you ready for the world simulcast of the Oreimo OVAs on Saturday, Japanator chatted up the Oreimo guests at Otakon 2013--light novel author Tsukasa Fushimi, his editor Kazuma Miki, and the director of the anime series Hiroyuki Kanbe--right before the world premiere of the episodes at Otakon 20.

It's rather difficult to talk about Oreimo before you watch the somewhat controversial ending that was revealed via the recently released, last volume of the light novel. However these hard questions about incest just has to be asked, right? Who will you choose? More importantly, will the anime deviate from the novel?

Otakon '13: Yoko Kanno and PIANO ME
by Jeff Chuang

Otakon 2013 wrapped up with a big bang--a concert from Yoko Kanno, a home coming of sorts as she visited Otakon over a decade ago for the first time. In order to get into the concert, over the weekend the attendees had to line up for these clear-plastic concert passes that were not only great souvenirs but also goes to show how much this concert means to everyone involved.

On August 11th, 2013, Hall D of the Baltimore Convention Center transported from a very humid Baltimore full of cosplayers into a weird and alien world. Read about my experiences going through space and time with master composer, conductor, producer, pianist and performer Yoko Kanno, as she PIANO ME from here to the high nines.
