Here I am in beautiful Miami, and instead of soaking in the rays in this lovely 80 degree weather, I'm writing up our next Otaku Debate. Something just seems wrong about that, but I figure it's about time for a new one.

Our last debate was our first ever J-drama debate and I kind of hate myself for having picked two of my absolute favorites right off the bat. I fully expected Hana Yori Dango to take the debate hands down, but much to my surprise, Nodame Cantabile  won by roughly a 2:1 margin. Maybe it's the music?

Considering the scope of the last debate, I thought it'd be fair to give it a bit extra time. After all, I felt it'd be pretty tough to choose just one of Miyazaki's masterpieces. Sure enough, some of you couldn't pick just one. Some of you guys are really passionate about your Howl's Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke though.

Incase you're wondering, Princess Mononoke won. Still, if you haven't seen any of those films, you should do yourself a favor and read some of those comments. They might just make you want to see the films you've missed out on.

Well, isn't this a surprise. It's been awhile since we've had something this close. So close, in fact, that we almost had a stalemate. Gloomy Bear and Hello Kitty both proved to be equally popular with each receiving 20 votes. I almost freaked out, thinking we had a tie, until I realized that I had voted in my original post. After adding in my own vote for Gloomy Bear to the totals, it broke the tie leaving him victorious. I guess I can't help it if I see animals, namely bears, for what they are. Souless, godless, rampaging killing machines.

Last weeks debate was interesting to say the least. It was our second music debate and since the last one had to do with pop idols, I tried going with something different by taking two very different rock bands and pitting them up against each other. That being the case, I was certain that there wouldn't be many of you who didn't already know which side you'd choose. It wasn't too much of a surprise to me when L'Arc~en~Ciel came out on top, but I'm glad to see that the Dir En Grey fans were at least passionate about their love for their band.

Now, I know there are a handful of you out there who spend each day watching FLCL like it's the only anime in existence, and subsequently think that all Japanese music needs to sound like The Pillows, but please understand that there are other bands out there. Besides, I'm sure they'll probably get their own debate in the future. Hell, they might go up against Asian Kung-Fu Generation or Beat Crusaders... or some other band that sounds just like all of the above.

I hope everyone has enjoyed their Labor Day weekend. I've been away from the site for a bit, so I've been catching up on all the great community blogs. You have no idea how pleased I am to finally see one promoted to our front page. You guys are all awesome, so keep it up. Now, let's go over the results from the last debate.

It's been two long weeks since our last debate started, and I know some of you are itching to for me to post another. Thankfully our last one was pretty close, so it made for a good cliffhanger. I didn't think it was possible but it appears that Manji managed to edge out the ever-so-popular Afro Samurai by a mere two votes. I'm still not sure how that happened, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only Blade of the Immortal fan.

Talk about one-sided; the last debate was won a huge landslide. I'm not sure what impressed me more, how the ratio, or the just the amount of votes alone.Strangely, I actually enjoyed it a bit more when people took the time to defend their reasons for voting one way or the other, and even when they would explain why they didn't side with either--without having to resort to voting for someone or something that wasn't part of the debate in the first place, of course. It appears that Saber had Clare's number, 51 to 27. I can't really defend Clare on this one, other than I find her a tad more classy,  for obvious reasons.

The results are in for last weeks male moe battle, though I wish more people had voted for the most moe and not just for who could kick the most ass. That said, I still felt Honey was more moe, despite the fact that he could indeed kick more ass. I seriously thought Momiji would get more votes for rocking the skirt though. I guess cross dressing doesn't beat being obsessed with stuffed animals or sweets though. Monday's surprise wasn't quite what we had expected, as we actually had a whole day of Moe planned for you. Not a big loss in my opinion. Besides, that couldn't possibly beat C-Blogs, am I right?

Last weeks debate was insane. I didn't expect to see that kind of turn out for our first ever music debate but everyone seemed rather pleased with the subject matter. Some people are pretty passionate about the musicians they love and I think that was reflected in our results. By my count, Utada Hikaru wins it 33 to 22, though at one point Gackt had twice as many votes as her. She made more than a comeback and took the victory. I love them both, though arguably I feel Gackt is a bit more talented in terms of actual musicianship. Hikki on the other hand, has a lovely voice and sings some great songs. Even I really can't take away from that.

The last debate was heated! I wasn't sure who'd win going in, but I had my money on Ragna from Blazblue. It's a newer series, but seems to be all the rage these days. I thought for sure that Sol Badguy had probably seen his day, but I guess I was wrong about that. I honestly didn't expect it to be such a close call either, but sure enough it came down to a vote or two. I suppose it's no surprise though, there are quite a few fans of both Guilty Gear and Blazblue, and while it didn't help that people kept wanting to vote for Slayer--he wasn't an option, sorry--my total had Sol Badguy winning by a single vote. Now, I'm sure that the total is give or take a vote, but I didn't count my own vote in that total and that would have been for Sol any ways. That said, if someone wants to argue those results, I'm fine with calling it a tie.

Thank god that con season is over. I'd like to think I'm through with them for the rest of the year, though you never know. Something could come up that'd make me book tickets for another con in an instant, but somehow I doubt it'll happen anytime soon. Still, it's good to just take some time to myself considering how crazy things have been. It's Tuesday though, and that means it's time for the next Otaku Debate-- and for me, that means back to work.

First, we have last week's results. It was a battle to who everyone loved more, Parappa the Rapper, or K.K. Slider. Each with their own brand of music, and fashion sense, only one of them could earn the title of top dog, and we let you decide. After totaling the votes, it looks as though K.K. Slider won thanks to those votes towards the end. Tough break for Parappa, so maybe Lammy would have done better.
