Absolute Territory After Dark

Hello, and welcome to the first edition of Absolute Territory After Dark, a special series of our world-renowned column, Japanator After Dark. As might be gleaned from the title, this series will document the eternal search for the paradise that lies between between skirt and sock: The Absolute Territory.

Join us on these first steps, for as said the wise sage Confucius:

"The journey of a thousand thigh-exposures begins with a single gallery post."

It is a duty of every "first post" to attend the joyous-yet-critical task of indoctrinating the neophytes, defining the key concepts that must be taken to heart. The key concept - perhaps the only concept - driving this mandate is known as the Absolute Territory, called "Zettai Ryouiki" in the Lunar Tongue.

Like many perfect things, it had no natural name at first. The appellation was derived from a minor, obscure work ironically concerned with the expression and assertion of a young boy's individuality. And yet the Absolute Territory is a place of community, where any and all are welcome, invited to lose themselves in fabled places.

To fit the mortal mind, people have draped study of the Absolute Territory in the trappings of ritual and rules. This, of course, is a necessary thing, as none could survive a truly pure experience within its field. But such minutiae are best left for more refined study and experience. What truly defines the Absolute Territory is, well, the territory itself. That place of thigh between skirt and sock.

Unlike a primitive feudal system, large tracts are less desirable for the true supplicant. Instead, narrow, more focused areas of exposure properly channel the intensity, sharpening the blade of moe that cuts straight into the heart, setting mind and soul aflame.

But mere words can never fully describe that which is beyond perfect comprehension. Instead, study carefully these artistic renditions, the product of great effort by pilgrims hoping to somehow capture a flicker of its essence. Let them help you along your journey.

Now go in peace. Seek, that you might moe.
