ACEN 2008: Bandai Entertainment industry panel

ACEN 2008: Bandai Entertainment industry panel photo

God Len here, reporting from Bandai Entertainment industry panel. I’m sorry to inform you that there are no new announcements coming from them at the moment, but there are promises of announcements next year. However, I do bring you new news regarding some of their current franchises, so be happy. The representative assured us that Gundam 00 will have a very good chance of being aired of Cartoon Network late '08 or early '09; it isn’t official yet, but 80% sure.

They also announced that there will be a Eureka 7 movie in the future, which may or may not be a retelling of the anime series within a three hour film. Speaking of mecha, Code Geass season 2, or R2 for short has also fallen into Bandai’s iron hands; though according to Gia this isn’t new news.

Now on to the delicious Gurren Lagann news you all have been waiting for. The dub for Gurren Lagan will appear as early as July '09. But that is the earliest point possible; either way we will have the entire series, sub only, so don’t be too upset. The voice actors from the ADV release have contacted Bandai about the dub. While nothing is set in stone yet, some might be used in Bandai’s dub. However, the representative clearly stated that they wanted to "start over" with it. He also has no clue about whether or not they will release the uncut version of the sixth episode for the upcoming release.

Here is some great news that most companies have talked about during this con: instead of releasing only a couple of episodes per disc as is the custom, someone made the wise decision to also have a ten or more episodes per disc release.  An example of this is one of Bandai’s new acquisitions, Rocket Girls, which will be released in its entirety, all 13 episodes, in one package. That means less money and less time waiting for new episodes. This is a win-win situation for us, and I thank you for it.
