There's still Bandai, Viz Media, Nozomi/RightStuf, and Media Blasters.

You SHOULD care about who got ADV's stuff-- at least enough to know that it's all essentially ADV part II-- three of the four companies are registered by the same guy, former ADV lawyer Griffin Vance, and the companies already employ most of the former ADV employees (the primary exception being founder John Ledford). Word from ADV is that one of the companies, Sxion 23 (division: Section 23 Films) will be continuing all of ADV's releases.

Sad, since ADV was the company that made it possible for me to watch as much anime as I did, with things like series box sets becoming normal business, but like Dale said, you could see this coming.

@Gia, would you say that "ADV Part II" is a good or bad thing for the industry? Will we see the re-release parade continue or will this get them on better footing?

eh, I'm indifferent. I'm sure whatever ADV was going to release will eventually make it to the market. The whole thing, at least, to me, seems like a restructuring ploy.

Bummed that it is happening, I kept hope alive, in a small box in my back closet that maybe someday, some time that the EVA live action movie would get another announcement other than "We're very soon going to be making an announcement."
Then again, beside the box, I had the hope it would never be made so as to not spoil what is already existing.

If Bandai picked up all of ADV's mecha licences, wouldn't they have almost all of the Mecha shows in their pocket? Would that make a 'real' Super Robot Wars more likely to come out in English?

We sadly still won't see a true SRW in the states due to the Macross licensing debacle.

If you follow the money though, ADV's remains have been scattered among companies apparently run by... ADV people. So yeah. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Apparently all that's really happened at the end of all this is that ADV still pretty much exists through all the new company's that gained their assets(Cause those company's are all run by the people behind ADV itself) The only difference is that the name ADV is gone.

Someone over at the ANN forums even got in contact with the ADV marketing guy who now works for one of the new company's Section23 films. and it seems that pretty much nothing is gonna change. ADV's titles wont disappear and pre orders for stuff they were involved in will come out under the Section23 Films label so pretty much no one will even notice what has happened.

I couldn't make heads or tails out of that press release but yes I'm saddened.

Shit. I honestly thought they'd pull out. I'm not surprised, but since I don't pay attention that much, I thought that they were managing to trim the fat and recover. Shame.

That's too bad...During my teenage years, most of the anime I watched either came from Anime Wors (dead), Pioneer (changed) or ADV...I liked releases from ADV...some good old school titles came from that company..Last of which was Kanon (and I had to get the last dvd from Funimation), so I'm a little sad to see ADV go....

Can't say I'm that suprised. Only regret....hopefully someone pick's up excel saga. I haven't seen it yet
