ADV isn't in hibernation, they're still crashing

ADV isn't in hibernation, they're still crashing photo

I figured ADV was just a hibernating bear at this point, but I guess I was wrong -- they're still hemorrhaging out some works. Well, as it turns out, they've canceled the BeastMaster Complete Collection (which was supposed to come out a month ago) because they've lost the license to it from Tribune Entertainment, along with several other Tribune shows, including Mutant X, Andromeda, Farscape, and the last 3 seasons of Earth: Final Conflict.

When you think about it, it's not too surprising. For their anime and manga titles, they have to answer to con panels all across the country, but they don't necessarily have as strong a need to answer to fans about their live action titles, seeing as that isn't the main focus of these panels. "When is Yotsuba&! coming out?" usually is. So, keeping these losses hushed would mean that they don't seem to be doing as bad as they are.

I'm surprised we haven't heard of them losing any of their manga licenses -- specifically Yotsuba&!. I would figure most any publisher would be very interested in getting their hands on that title. Gunslinger Girl, too. But that's just my personal desire.
