[Note: Some of our AEE gallery may be called Not Safe For Work by some.]
I wasn't sure how well Japanator's audience would be served by a report or two from the 2010 Adult Entertainment Expo, held this past week in Las Vegas. Of course, I went anyway. Research, I called it.
So is there content there for the otaku set? Hmmm. Let's say it's a growing presence at the AEE. There's not a lot yet, though I did notice a couple of real, fresh-in-from-Japan otaku on the floor. Backpacks and all. I saw one get an autographed rear shot from a busty elderly star (yikes). And since said otaku weren't press members, they must had to have paid plenty of money to get here and get in. I hope they found what they were looking for.
I did, kind of. Past the Thug Love (or whatever) booth where there was a spectator's ring where one lady ravaged another while she worked a 2+ foot dildo in her mouth, I found some things you might be interested in.
There was a full-on display of Japan's Tenga products. Servicing yourself has never seemed so classy. They had the cup with the squeezable head for that "deep throat" feeling. The U.S. Tenga product is for a nation of lonely pervs that are supposed to be bigger than their Japanese counterparts. Interested? They even had the Cups and Flips on sale on the floor. Need something quick after being aroused on the show floor? You could even purchase an individual Egg if you wanted. People did.
Website Porn Japan had a bit of a presence at AEE. The site is an English language video on demand portal that wanted to spread the good word as well as spread open some love dolls. The site has a crazy selection that should cover anyone's interests. There's even a vintage 1990s porn section. I saw a page of selections and my mind was blown. Live-action tentacle fisting? Check.
The PJ booth also has a solid selection of sex toys and collectible figures from Japan, which they also sell on their website.. They had a few on the show floor to laugh at/touch/make note of. Even some of the passing-by porn stars scoffed. I have to admit that some of the dolls looked comical in that setting.
I wouldn't call the Adult Entertainment Expo an otaku perv's destination yet. Hell, you'd probably find more j-porn at the larger anime conventions. Still, it's good to see that Japan was represented. I felt more at home around these booths than I did the Big, Black and Beautiful ones.
Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to have a look at Porn Japan for the lulz.
