Afternoon News Roundup: All the Haruhi news you don't really need edition
by Brad Rice, 01/23/2009

I'm sure you all must be excited to hear more details about the Haruhi Wii game and the Youtube series, right? What's that, you want season two details? Well, I've got some solicitations for Viz shoujo fan art! No? Well, tough.

If none of that entertains you, then I've got some Kill Bill news sitting down below the jump. I know, the movie came out a while ago, but there's word about a new version of the film hitting DVD (and hopefully Blu-ray). So, while you're wasting away your last hours of work for the week on Japanator, why not follow me after the jump for some news?

The Agitation of Suzumiya Haruhi Wii game has come out [Sankaku Complex]

Well, the Haruhi Wii game has finally come out, so now all of you with modded or imported Wiis can now play this fabulous game! As you can see from the video above the jump, it looks alright, although I'm curious to see it on its most difficult settings, just because it looks fairly easy to beat as of right now. Sankaku Complex has some shots of the figure that come with the game, and I've got to say, it's not exactly my cup of Haruhi. There are easily many other figures that look better than this one. So, I guess this one is a pass for most importers.

Production IG extends the Origin of O-Ren footage from Kill Bill [Tarantino Archives]

While I'm not a huge fan of Quentin Tarantino (I'd rather not go into it here), I do have to appreciate him pulling in Production IG to work with him on Kill Bill -- and so it's pretty damn cool to find out that he managed to get them to do this seven-minute sequence for what is going to be the integral edition of Kill Bill. This version will be a solitary film, with an intermission, shown as it was at the Cannes Film Festival. This is the version of the film that I'm willing to buy. I'm just hoping it'll be out on Blu-ray.

Viz has a call out for St. Dragon Girl fan art [Viz]

Just a heads up to all of you artists and fans, Viz is currently asking for fan art for St. Dragon Girl, as they're looking for items to put in volumes of the manga. If you've got some talent, why not have your work immortalized in print?

We've finally got a premiere date for The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi-chan! [Moetron]

Well, would you look at that. More Haruhi. You'd almost think news on the second season of the actual show would pop up somewhere -- but nope. We've just got word that The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi-chan is going to be streaming its first episode on Kadokawa's Anime Channel page on Youtube starting on February 13th at 10pm JST. So, that's 10am for many of us. Of course, we'll let you know how it is -- it's not like we've got anything else to do.
