AKB0048 graced with second season in 2013AKB0048 is one of the kind of ridiculous concept you'd hear of in the 80s, like fusing Gem with G.I. Joe. Fans of thinly veiled propaganda anime will be pleased to know that a second season is in the works, as announced by the above image shown at the end of the final episode. New episodes will air sometime in 2013. Who didn't see this coming? Because without knowing anything about the plot beyond Josh's First Impressions, I would have felt confident betting on a second season. Japan is absolutely crazy about the group; they command a significant portion of their pop culture mindshare and seem almost impossible to avoid. I'm actually rather ambivalent about the whole phenomenon, and yet I remember writing plenty of posts about the girls and their latest marketing stunt. Oh no...their insidious propaganda is so prevalent that it's taking over my mind! I bet by next year I'll actually know a few of their names! [Via MyAnimeList]
