Akira movie looks like it might actually be happening

Akira movie looks like it might actually be happening photo

I'm shocked. We're hearing about progress on the live-action Akira movie twice in a one year? Newsstands rag, Variety reports that Warner Brothers has actually green-lit production on the project, and it's set to to start filming in February.

Variety explains the films as, "Set in New Manhattan, the cyberpunk sci-fi epic follows the leader of a biker gang who must save his friend, discovered with potentially destructive psychokinetic abilities, from government medical experiments."

Man, I'm starting to think this might actually happen? Does that mean Burton might show up with that legendary Mai the Psychic Girl film? Does this mean the world is going to actually end in 2012?
