Above you can see a drug awareness video put out by Japanese authorities in the wake of the recent scandal involving singer/actress Noriko Sakai. Sakai disappeared for a brief period following the arrest of her husband on drug charges, but turned herself in last week. Her husband claimed that he bought the drugs "from a foreigner."
The video reenacts what must have happened in the Sakai household. An innocent young girl, her face tastefully blurred out, is tempted into the world of "aburi" abuse by a Kamen Rider audition reject. Shortly after inhaling the evil fumes off a heated strip of aluminum foil, she is caught in the drug's hallucinogenic grip, screaming and punching walls while imagining waving electric tentacles everywhere.
Assuming the facts of this dramatic recreation are accurate, the "aburi" in question is most likely methamphetamine. Paraphanelia located at Sakai's home also included straws, an easy way to channel fumes or powder into the nose. That said, Meth is known more for producing an intense rush and feelings of euphoria rather than tentacle hallucinations, so it could be anything, really.
If, following this serious video about drug addiction, check the gallery for pictures of a rather dedicated otaku, who bravely took the opportunity to flash ads for Saki-themed tacos at the news cameras covering Sakai's arrest. Ah, nerds. So precious.
Uh huh.
