Childhood superhero and all around delicious looking fella, Anpanman makes his annual return to the big screen this summer, on July 6th. The newest film, Soreike! Anpanman: Tobase! Kibō no Handkerchief, hopes to continue the message of encouragement for those effected by the 2011 disaster in Japan. I'm sure the sight of him alone will also make me hungry.
The mega popular character of Anpanman has been a Japanese household staple since his first appearance in children's' picture books, back in 1973. The show has now topped well over 1000 episodes, and continues to be one of the most popular characters ever created. The films are traditionally released on an annual basis, this time it they will also be showing the short, Minna de Teasobi: Anpanman to Itazura Obake.
