There are some that would say that "waffles are waffles," but I beg to differ. Sure, if you buy the off-the-shelf boxed crap, you're going to get a yellow puck of bread. But, with the right ingredients and toppings, waffles can be heavenly.
Appearance also helps things a bit. These sakura-shaped waffles, found on Tokyomango, should appeal to anyone with a fondness for Japanese things. Sure, the cherry blossom shape won't make your waffles taste any different, but they're much better looking than the plain old circle shape. Oh, and you can seperate the sakura petals to make hearts. Aww!
According to the price on the Japanese product page (6,720 yen), you'd really have to want sakura waffles to pay the asking price.
Do you want a waffle tip? Go to the Bellagio buffet in Las Vegas in the morning. The have all-you-can-eat Belgian waffles that are delicious on their own, but when topped with real maple (not that corn syrup crap), you will achieve epic mouth win.
i live in germany and have never seen a waffle iron with a different shape in my whole life.
