AX 10: An update regarding the Toradora/Persona DVD issue photo

So I managed to stop by the NIS America booth and had a quick word with their lovely PR rep Nao Zook regarding the issues certain customers had reported regarding their recent DVD releases, but before I did, I noticed a large LCD television which happen to be playing a copy of the current Toradora DVD. Needless to say, I didn't notice a single issue with my naked eye.

According to Nao, the issues only really appear if you drastically slow down the footage and compare it side by side with the original Japanese release, and even then, the difference is negligible. I mean, seriously, it's impossible to even tell if you're watching the episodes at regular speed, side by side. Having watched the footage myself, I can back up these claims. In fact, I sort of find it ridiculous that people would feel the need to complain -- it's a DVD for god sakes.

That said, NIS has gone above and beyond in that they're actually offering to send slightly remastered discs to people who wish to exchange their previous purchases, free of charge. Unfortunately, there are only limited quantities of these remastered discs available so if you really need to have it done, visit this site and follow the steps provided there.

I'll be the first to say that I'm really impressed with the way they've owned up to the issues and how they're offering to take care of their customers -- so, kudos to you, Nippon Ichi. You guys rock!

Its nice that they are willing to fix the small problems. Hopefully by the time I get my copy I wont see any problems with it.
When will Toradora come to the UK I love the show but the import cost would be as much as the DVD
My copy's just shipped. I hope I don't have to get a replacement but from what people have been saying it's almost impossible to see the effect anyway so I don't know what people are freaking out about. I wonder if the size of you TV effects it as I have a large 55" TV hopefully that doesn't make it more noticeable.
I see that HD and Blu Ray have really clouded the visions of many, at least it is not a big issue compare to Bandai's and Media Blaster's play back issues they had in the past with some of their dvds.

I wish NIS the best with their new approach and that they continue to grow.
While I'd rather they pay closer attention so that this doesn't happen in the first place, I have to commend them as well that they're willing to go this far to correct what they say is a minor issue.
I watched the first disc of Toradora last night and didn't notice any playback flaws. Even though I didn't have any problems, I am glad they are fixing the issue for those that did.
@The-Excel It's not really what they say so much as a matter of fact. I've seen both, so speaking first-hand, to call it minor would probably be making more of it than it actually is -- try minuscule.

@Reibooi The LCD I was watching it on was easily that big -- I didn't notice a thing.
@Tim Sheehy

Good to know. Now I have less to worry about. I can't wait to get them next week.
@ Tim - I'm not sure if you've followed the actual complaints themselves but it seems like the issues vary depending on your viewing setup. Some people were having problems and some weren't. Also it seems like Persona was receiving more complaints than Toradora.

As for myself I have taken a small glimpse of Toradora on the PS3 with HDMI cables on an HD TV. Didn't notice any ghosting or anything like that. Even saying that though I think the video output could be better, but it's not unwatchable by any means.

As for how it is ridiculous that people are complaining... honestly I don't know the last time there was a situation like this, so many some people are having legit problems. Props to NIS for stepping up and saying there is room for improvement.
Alright I finally received my own copy. I just glanced a bit through the first episode but it looks perfectly fine. Yes if I PAUSE the video I can see ghosting but other wise it's completely flawless. Even the other video issues which I thought I saw before were not present :)
@Darksorrow29 I have been following them. The majority of the claims I've read are similar. From the comparisons I've witnessed, it seemed like a few people were just blowing smoke. I guess it doesn't really matter now that NISa has the replacement plan going on. I'm sure you see what I meant.
I saw the video at the con and it looked great. Granted, I don't know what set-up they had, but it looked perfectly fine.
Man, gotta say, since I was at the con I had no idea this was going on, but the clerk at their booth pointed out about the possibility of having any problems with the disc. I was a little confused by that, but props to them for taking care of business.
They look perfectly fine to me
