AX '12: Sentai licenses a boatload of shows [Update][Update: Sentai added Kokoro Connect, Tari Tari, Space Brothers, Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita, andSomeday's Dreamers II Sora. Enough with these shows!] Sentai Filmworks does not disappoint its fans: sticking with titles that exist in their wheelhouse, Sentai Filmworks has announced they licensed Detroit Metal City, Qwaser of Stigmata, Hiiro no Kakera - The Tamayori Princess Saga, Idolm@ster Xenoglossia, and Hakuouki Reimeiroku. They have also licensed So I Can't Play H!, La Storia Della Arcana Famiglia, Mayo Chiki, Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere II, Campione!, and Natsuyuki Rendezvous for DVD and digital release, which means we will likely see a simulcast of those shows. There are no firm dates on these titles' releases, but it will follow with a digital or on-demand release, followed by a disc-based release later on this year or sometime next year. I have to say: talk about blowing a load. Poor Otakon won't be getting any love, I fear. Sentai's decision to announce all of these titles at once means that they are looking for some notice. Either they need to get "back into the game" in a big way, and draw as much attention to themselves as it pleases their financial backers and licensors, or they are looking to remind people that they are in fact very much alive and FUNimation isn't the only big dog in town. Those two bits of attitude aren't mutually exclusive, but the driving mentality is either fear or bravado. I can only hope it's the latter -- the former means that Sentai is already feeling pressure on their business performance. After the jump, I've collected as many of the trailers as I could find.
