Bakemonogatari was a series that I loved and hated. As a fan of anime studio SHAFT, I loved their presentation, and the characters were delightful. As a person who values something happening...well, they pretty much just stood around and talked. (MORE LIKE TALKEMONOGATARI, AMIRITE?) But I loved the world they created (and would occasionally feel like animating!) enough to want more. The slow drip that was the final few episodes of the Tsubasa Cat story was not enough to satisfy me.
So I'll join the many other fans of the show in celebrating the fact that the one-volume light novel prequel, Kizumonogatari, will be getting an anime adaptation by SHAFT! The story concerns the much-referenced-but-never-shown incident where main character Koyomi Araragi becomes a vampire for a short time at the hands of a pre-loli Shinobu Oshino (voiced by Aya Hirano).
The announcement was made in a flyer depicting an adult version of the vampire Shinobu (seen below) and included with author NisiOisin's new light novel Nekomonogatari. This confirms earlier rumors of an anime adaptation, so perhaps the sequel Nisemonogatari, concerning Araragi's two adorable sisters, will also see an anime adaptation. While we're continuing speculation, Kabukimonogatari and Nekomonogatari are his latest light novels in the series, and they're still lacking an adaptation as well!
Known for ridiculous delays, animator SHAFT is wisely not giving a timeframe for the release of Kizumonogatari. Still, I'm excited to be getting more, even if the lovely Hitagi Senjougahara will likely be nowhere to be found. Who else is pumped to see this, er, whenever SHAFT gets around to it?

In anotherwords, I can't wait for this to come out but my OCD is going to have a fit.
