If you're a Gundam plastic model enthusiast like me, you're probably well aware of the woes associated with trying to find Gunpla overseas. Models that would normally cost $20 or so in Japan can often double in price due to import costs, and you're lucky if you can find a hobby store or comic shop that carries the mobile suit you're looking for. Oh, if only you could afford to move to Japan...

Perhaps Bandai finds our suffering amusing. They've recently announced the creation of Club MG, exclusively for Japanese fans of Master Grade Gunpla kits. Registration opens in January 2010, and members accumulate points for each Master Grade purchase they make. Those with lots of points will get certain privileges, including access to "event exclusive items".

Congratulations, Japanese Gunpla fans! No, really... I'm very happy for you!
