Hey, remember Final Fantasy XIV, the sequel to Final Fantasy XIII? Ha ha, I kid. It's actually the sequel to Final Fantasy XI, the MMO, except this one isn't nearly as well-regarded. But now, now, according to this trailer, Eorzea is a realm reborn! Reborn in the fires of hot CG and strangely accented narration.
If you didn't know yet, A Realm Reborn is a fancy name for Final Fantasy XIV 2.0, and is Square Enix's attempt to stick new life into the game after its 2010 launch, which was apparently so disastrous that they fired the whole development team and kept the game's free trial period going for something like a year, if I recall correctly, and postponing indefinitely the PS3 version. That last part was a bit ironic, since Final Fantasy XIV was originally announced during Sony's E3 presentation way back in the day...as an exclusive.
In any case, take comfort in seeing Mithra (or whatever Eorzeans call the catgirl race) prance around in floppy mage clothes, and look forward to Square Enix's demo of the game at this year's Gamescom conference.
