Nippon Ichi may not have had much show presence at the west-dominated E3, but that hasn't stopped 'em from making an announcement to celebrate their 20th anniversary! And surprise, it's a new game!
Titled TokuHou - short for Tokushuu Houdoubu (Special Reports Bureau), the upcoming PS Vita game seems to be about a bunch of twenty-something staffers (plus a high-school intern) running the offbeat stories section of a local TV news outlet. Not much else beyond that premise and some character profiles was given, so fans can only speculate as to what kind of game it'll be. No information was given as to an English release.
My take? Given the 2D-ness of the screenshots shown so far I wouldn't be surprised if it were some kind of visual novel or adventure game, rather than some kind of news-agency sim. A bit of a shame, that. I haven't played a reporter (sorry, Frank West doesn't count) since Suda51's amazing Michigan: Report From Hell, and something a little more...procedural would be quite the feat, especially in light of all the frankly banal shooterism that looks to dominate the western scene this year.
