Bleach is such a joke now, what the hell happened? After the Soul Society arc everything went downhill and it gets worse as it drags on. I keep reading every week, holding on to a tiny ounce of hope that it'll all turn around but the chances of that happening are slim to none.

Kubo is a talented artist, and his designs are dynamic and unique, but I feel he'd be much more effective if he were paired with a writer. That way he could just focus on doing what he does best without having to worry about making a decent story.

@ShinuZERO- I have to agree unfortunately. Kubo has some of the best character designs hands-down. While I perfer One Piece, Oda has nothing on Kubo when it comes to drawing things that are undeniably "badass shit."

Now if only he could hire some better writers and just give Bleach the ending it deserves.

Mmmm I dunno, there are spotty sections of Bleach, but overall it's better than it is worse.

Soul Society Arc was great. Bounto Arc sucked. The Arrancar Arc was pretty good. The Amagai Arc was pretty neutral-ish (I'd give it a "par" when you take away the actual time it was released). The Hueco Mundo Arc was decent but continued to get better as it moved on. While initially apprehensive about the Zanpaktou Arc, it hasn't disappointed me yet while still being generic and by-the-book.

Bleach has me fairly captivated. It's not very stand out, but I spent a great deal of time thinking about it and think I figured out why I can stomach 250 episodes of an anime when previously the longest series I ever had the interest to follow start to finish was 50. There are two things I've identified.

First they're good at threading events early on that you don't even notice but come into play way later, such as Ichigo's Hollow soul. When you first watch it it just looks like he finds Zangetsu's powers at the very last second all dramatic like and BAM he's a Shinigami now!

But then they touch on his inner Hollow and if you go rewatch it, sure enough, they left a thread you didn't notice at the time that wove in to the story some 50 episodes ago. With a fairly minimal amount of foreshadowing (that is leaving it open to speculation without completely cracking your skull by beating you over the head with the "HEY DUMMY THIS WILL HAPPEN SOON") it constantly has me guessing about anything out of the ordinary and what it could be in the future.

And then it is very much Ichigo's actual inner Hollow. I squee at the moments Goichi comes around because I really enjoy the anti-hero side. If Ichigo didn't have to fight Goichi for control, he'd be a pretty boring character. I mean... headstrong youth with an unreasonably strong sense of justice? So cliche it hurts. But now he has a soul residing within him that wants to defeat him so he can manifest and fight and kill anything and everything? A bit more entertaining!

Needless to say, I'm looking forward to this movie. I was pretty disappointed by the first two, seeing how I had these expectations of Ichigo and what he's capable of, then they completely stripped those away and basically in the end everything that happened didn't really mean anything to the story. But hopefully this will, if anything, lay more backstory with the Vaizard and show Ichigo's progression from a chump who can't maintain his mask for more than seconds to being able to Hulk the fuck out in an Espada-esque bankai.

And then we see Ichigo FINALLY fight Ulquiorra.

*and use said powers without having just grabbed them out of nowhere because he was getting his ass kicked and needed them to win the day.

I think I'm in the minority, but I've really been enjoying the Hueco Mundo arc in the manga. I can't speak for current events, since I follow Viz's release of the manga (and don't really watch the anime). Kubo is great at portraying action (Oda and Kishimoto are considerably weaker in this regard), and even when a fight is of little consequence, like Dordoni, he still draws so damn well, and can throw in little things to make you care even if it is a fight of little consequence with a character we've never seen before. It can also be poetic at times, more so in the manga than the anime, with the poems in each volume,the chapter titles (who else would name each title in a foreign language and have it relate to the chapter in some abstract way? Most mangaka just name their chapters So-and-so versus What's-his-face-sama), and the black/white symbolism (trite, perhaps, but done very well), among other things. And he's good with foreshadowing.

There's a bit more going on in Bleach than people give it credit for.

Personally I don't see why people are always so down on Bleach. I think it's LEAPS and bounds better then Naruto(At least from what I have seen of Naruto) and is pretty much on par with One Piece(really depends on which style you want really)

I love the Manga and I am enjoying the anime alot(which I'm farther in then the Manga at the moment). The one thing I like about the Bleach anime is that the filler isn't pointless. Alot of people don't like the Bount arc for various reasons but I thought it was pretty good. Once it picked up it was really really good. Once the bounts get into the soul society I could not stop watching. Which is MUCH more then I can say for filler of any other show out there.

Bleach certainly has it's low points and honestly what show doesn't. But the good the show has VASTLY outweighs any bad the show has.

@Rei I think it's more that the Bounto arc's story was so horrible compared to the Soul Society arc right before it. I mean sure it had good action and somewhat good animation, but I mean come on? Vampires!? If someone were watching the fillers and thinking they were canon episodes they'd probably stop watching bleach all together.

I'd have to say Bleach overall is on par if not better when the other 2 pillars (Naruto and One Piece), however I think alot of people say it sucks now when they're only comparing it to it's past self. I mean I do that too sometimes. Alot of times I'll look back at the Soul Society arc and sigh when I remember how badass Renji used to be and how badass his rivalry with Ichigo was. But it's still very good compared to other animes.

I also liked the Shinigami vs. Espada arc, we really were able to remember how strong the other captains are too.

What I honestly love the most about bleach is there's not some sort of linear power level chart that all characters follow (like in Dragon Ball Z, and most of Naruto). Since each shinigami has their own special abilities, even a regular shinigami could pwn the shit out of some Espadas. It all just really matters on who is paired with who. Ichigo may be the most bad ass person he can be when he takes out some of his hollow powers, but there's just some opponents he can't beat while other shinigamis can. The Karakura Battles arc and the Shinigami vs. Espada arc really shows this (by shinigami vs. Espada I mean when the other (spoilers?) shinigami captains sneak into Hueco Mundo too).

As long as the movie doesn't end up being a piece of boring crap like Fade to Black (and boy did I try to like that movie) then I'm all for it.

Bleach has been stale for a long time. Even in Soul Society Arc, some of the fights were pointless. I cry for it since the first 8 volumes are the best as shonen manga goes.

i dont care who you are. Bleach is hands down the best story telling ive seen since I started watching anime. Im a sucker for plots with depth to them. Bleach gots me hooked till i finally see how it ends.

Ill admit it drags on at times... but wat do u expect... u have to milk it for as long as u can. Its money involved. I accept this.

As long as bleach stays on the same path its been on.... im going to say its #1 on my list of anime.

i dont care who u are either. bleach is up there with dragonball z. i love Ichigo cause he reminds me of myself with my friends. the story is awesome even tho the bounto arc i could do without. the rest is amazing especailly when ichigo goes into his "vasto lorde" form against Ulquiorra. that was the best fight. overall bleach is my #1 all time favorite anime/manga series and i can't wait for the next movie.

Well, these rumours about bleach ending, and that this movie will continue the Ulquiorra fight are probably wrong(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Bleach_episodes#Season_15_.282010.29). The manga is way past that fight and the series will continue from 13th of April.

hey ppl he turned in to a hollow in the zanpakuto arc in the anime... SPOILER ALERT!!!! but so far in the manga when he fights ulquiorra he turns into a Resurrección form not a hollow

Idk why you people are complaining. Ok i agree, the bount storyline could have been better, BUT the storyline wasnt meant for Ichigo, it was meant for Uryu. Now im on the amagai arc and im interested bleach has me hooked for life.

@dbfroge: I couldn't disagree with you more. Bleach does have leaps and bounds, but it's bounds are quite deeper that it's leaps are higher. After Soul Society arc, it was complete shit. They introduce Aizen as this supervillain that only knows how to power up and godmod. Plus it's amazingly predictable. It's time for Bleach to be put out of it's misery. Try something better that's actually interesting like Yu Yu Hakusho or Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

Morons, the bount and the new captain arc and the zanpakuto arc do not belong to kubo; they were created by the animation studio so kubo could have more time to write. the anime develops faster than the manga even so, kubo is insanely talented.

Tite Kubo is a master of manga...Don't dis Bleach if you're only contributing yourself to the anime (for your information, he has little to no say in the matter, so technically the ones to blame are the lame ass storyboard creaters and writers who can't find a decent story filler to make!!!!!) then don't you dare critize Tite Kubo!!!!!

I must admit that the Bount arc was a bit too much and I think they had a hard time trying to erase all those new characters while beginning the Arrancar arc. After that, I gave up on the anime, but I still love the manga! I recently tried the Zanpakuto arc, and I wish I hadn't...it all went downhill....
But if you ever dis Tite Kubo (aka Jesus of manga!!!) I will kick your ass!!!

PS. Johnny Bosch, and the voices of everyone in the Soul Society arc are amazing, but anything past that should be watched in sub.

I have to admit the bleach movies so far have been shit but I can't help but 2 give this movie high hopes. As for the anime it's all been good except for the fillers they went drop dead awful but they were good at times. Don't get the wrong idea but ichigo is a pussy who needs 2 be nerfed, just because he's the main character doesn't mean he's badass all it means is he always wins in the end. If u ask me they need to expand on Nels storyline and make her a captin like person who works for the soul society like rukia or renji. Sorry I got a little off topic but anyway the 4th movie should be interesting.

So I've been readig and these posts seem to be way far behind on everyting thats happened these past couple months. Bleach itself does get better and sometimes I agree it does need that substance to keep me interested, because it just keeps going.

Anyway the new Bleach Movie is called: Bleach The Hell Chapter(: It comes out on 12/4 (December 4th) in Japan theaters. Its a bummer tho, because none of the sources say when the Movie will be released here in the USA...I'm sitll looking into it and reading the Japan Issues for info. ha.

A bunch of you people are idiots and I am amazed at reading your posts. You people always want to judge anime or manga by its arcs and never as a whole. Granted no matter how the story is, if it is going to be a long story, it will have its ups and downs. There cannot be a perfect story that can last that long. But then, thats what gives the story(and its character) more depth.

Some people may take Ichigo for example and may either love him or hate him. Personally out of all the manga and anime that I have laid eyes on, Ichigo has the most depth as a hero. He isnt perfect. He is flawed in so many ways that it sometimes takes somebody else to finish the job he couldnt do. Most stories today, a hero is flawless or has no sympathy or care, or even has only one or two minor weaknesses that get exposed every now and then. Ichigo however, is a flawed being with many different attributes around him that he has yet to even master. Its his determination that usually pushes him forward and in the later part of the series, crumbles.

I admit that they need to make movies that fit well into the time-line. But movies are the real arcs, not the ones you would see in the series itself. Because in the series, the arcs were teaching you about the other characters and some back story. There are so many characters in Bleach that with a main hero, you cant focus on everybody else because the story would never continue. Within the arcs you are learning about the other characters like why they are the way they are or, what is a Zanpakuto, or how far in depth does the research facility go?(Hence the Bounts)

If it wasnt for the arcs, you would never understand the nature and depth of each area Bleach has to offer. Just think, without the Hueco Mundo arc, you would never know what it was like other than brief explanations the story provided throughout the series.

The movies are for separate stories(intended) that could never fit into the series because either it is too short, or it is taking what knowledge it already has and putting a new twist on things. Therefor, the time-line is most of the time inaccurate for any series and that means including a real life motion picture.

Try reading a real book or watching a movie that does not have any faults. I bet in everything you watch or read, there will be an area that you think "well it was awesome but they could have left this part out or made this part different, or this part would be better if". Dont lie to yourself you know you have on many occasions.

How can you grow attached to characters or what they do(which thats the point in any story) if you dont know anything about them? Even the villains in most stories have a good point to what they do. They always have their own twisted sense of what is right and when they tell you why they do what they do, you can feel a connection to them even though you know it may not be right how they go about it.

A long story like Bleach has to have depth, progression, evolution, weaknesses and strength. Just because you dont like an arc of the story doesnt mean the story as a whole suffered from it. If you think it went downhill from a certain point, why in the hell are you still watching it?? because even though you want to be a pain in the ass and be negative, you still watch the show because you "want" to. not because you have to.

Those of you who hate on the show because it has low spots of entertainment and have hopes for the 4th movie, got news for you. You still like the show and regardless how negative you are being, will watch the 4th installment.

Now to all of you who can judge a series as a whole and not as a section, congrats! To the rest of you who cant seem to grasp that idea, just stick to short manga and anime to keep your spark going. I myself prefer anime to manga just because I like to see the action put together and fully animated with sound. But thats my preference. So what I mean by short anime, I wouldnt say anything more than a 24 episode anime can keep you a happy camper since you wanna judge things on a sectional bases. If you are going to complain about long stories having a downside, then just stay away from it and let others enjoy instead of shooting your mouth off.
