It always makes me sad to see companies go out of business, especially ones that have released substantial material. Broccoli International USA will be going out of business and will have no trace of themselves left by February 2009. Of course the Japanese parent company Broccoli will still be around, we just unfortunately won't get to see any releases here.
Broccoli Books was mainly focused on publishing manga and artbooks in the States and was established in March of 2002. It wasn't a major operation by any means, but they released some amazing properties here. They were the ones who managed the manga, anime and game properties here for the parent company. Some of those properties were: Di Gi Charat, Galaxy Angel, Aquarian Age, Bushilord, Disgaea, Murder Pricess and sola.
Hopefully we'll get some other way to receive some of the titles again. If all else fails there's always translators!
Update: Broccoli Books have posted over on their blog that they have a lot of promo goods that they will be tossing out to the trash at the end of the year. They are allowing people to contact them if they are interested in receiving them for their local libraries, school clubs, etc. You can have your librarian or club officer email them at pr@bro-usa.com with the subject line "Broccoli Books Promo Goods". They also want to make it clear that if you have requested a dust jacket or stickers for their books, they will be continuing to mail them out until they are all accounted for. They are currently working with the Japanese publishers to try and get titles released by other US publishers in the future, so stay tuned!
