Professional blogging, transcription, and data entry jobs just got a lot sexier. Online retailer E☆2 (pronouned "etsu") is now taking orders for ita-keyboards featuring illustrations by famous doujin and CG artists Tony Taka and CARNELIAN. Unlike other ita-keyboards, these products will have the art directly printed onto the plastic, rather than applied manually, reducing the need for maintenance. The term "ita-" was taken from "itasha," or cars that featured customized paintjobs of a similarly otaku-tastic nature. The concept's also been applied to PCs, fighter jets, and videogames. Cheesy Xbox 360 faceplates, eat your hearts out!
Tony Taka may be better-known among foreign otaku, being the character designer for the Playstation 2 RPGs Shining Tears and Shining Wind, as well as being more prolific in the eroge and h-doujinshi scene, with several of his works ported into ero-anime. CARNELIAN's greatest English-language presence was as the creator of Day of Love (Koiyoubi), a Hirameki-published visual novel.
Otaku with a lot of disposable income can go here and drop ten grand (of yen) on all that moe hardware. I'd think the CARNELIAN keyboard was a better deal, as it's a lot more colorful. Tony's light colors aren't suited to a keyboard, what with all the bumpy surfaces. Hit the gallery for more pics, so you can see which keys you will be stroking and poking at lovingly.
