The more I see of the Vocaloid craze, the more interested I get in this auto-tune program madness, and the latest promo video for the upcoming Yamakan-produced Black Rock Shooter anime is looking pretty hot.
Created by artist HUKE, Black Rock Shooter is a fan-made character based on Hatsune Miku, one that has a flaming eye and wields a big-ass "Rock Cannon" rocket launcher on her left arm. The fan response to her introduction was apparently as feverish as might have been expected of an official Vocaloid character, so it's not surprising that someone would green-light a commercial production.
The anime will be produced by Ordet, the studio founded by Yamakan following his departure. It'll be interesting to see how this turns out. I wonder if she'll be added into future Vocaloid productions.
Overall, this trailer looks pretty awesome. Still, I can't help thinking the animation looks less fluid and detailed then Ordet's previous work on Kannagi. It feels to me like this PV is just an early rough-draft, and the final animation will be a lot more polished. That's a totally subjective opinion, though...
