Contest: Tell us who is the best tsundere, win a shirt! photo

You know that awesome Rie Kugimiya shirt we told you about recently? It's not like we're really trying to help you out or anything, but J-List just happened to send us an extra copy of the shirt, and since I already have one, I didn't want it to go to waste or anything.

W-what I'm trying to say is that I'm giving it to you. Not like y-you're special or anything. We'll be running a contest all day, where you just need to tell us who your favorite tsundere is and why. We'll decide which one of you gave the best reasoning, and will grace you with this shirt.

You should feel honored when you receive it, as yours truly will be putting their lovely touch on packaging the prize. N-not that I feel anything special for you. I-it's just my way of saying thanks for reading the site.

Anyways! Let us hear your entries!

MOAR Tsundere:

Legacy Comments

Taiga, theres a reason why I renamed my hand from Palmala Handerson to Palmtop Tiger.
I'm gonna go w/ Senjougahara from Bakemonogatai. Watch the anime and bask in her tsundere-ness.
I hope you celebrate Fanservice Friday next week. It's a weekly holiday after-all.
I fully put my support behind Asuka Langley Soryu. Think about what she's had to endure: a mother who lost her soul and committed suicide along with hanging a doll that she thought to be her daughter right next to her. A fake relationship with foster parents she doesn't love. A spineless boy she has to live with who she actually kind-of likes. A nonsensical purplehaired guardian who shacks-up with her ex. Being enamoured with said ex. And, of course, having to pilot a giant biorganic robot whose secret purpose is to be used as a tool for the eventual destruction of free will.

There's nothing NOT to like about her. Plus, if you don't vote for her she'll stop you into a thick paste with the hell of Unit 02.
Godlen is the best Tsundere.
Taiga Aisaka.

Enough talking....
Remember guys, you have to give a reason! It can be a thought out reasoning like Slackerchan's, or a joke like Hip-Albatross. Just be sure to distinguish yourself from the rest!
Sawachika Eri from school rumble. She's got the blonde hair and twin tails! And the way she gets so jealous and tries to prevent other people from getting close to Harima, but doesn't admit she likes him makes me HNGGGGHHHH. How the bossy and conceited attitidues falter and stumble before the person they like always gets me. andplusalso she's a sugar momma
Can I point to my blog as my entry?
Haruhi Suzumiya hands down. All of the other Tsunderes will just punch and kick you, only one will alter reality (after punching and kicking you).
1) Look at her. Everyone is attracted to her (even if she will only go out with you for 5 seconds).
2) Sexual Indifference. She did say it didn't matter if she was with a guy or a girl. How about both? *nudge* *nudge*
3) You get to hang out with Nagato and Mikuru. Triple Prizes.
But really, like Kyon I'm borde and lazy. Someone, to yell at me and drag me into random events would be nice.

Oh ya, and you get to go back in time and see her 3 years ago. Bad thing is, you have to suffer The Endless Eight all over again.
This post is moe.
my choice would be with Senjougahara from bakemonogatari, the reasoning is simple, she knows what she wants and how she wants it. i also like how she gets jealous with murderous intent and then when shown love or affection, she acts like everythings normal xD
I'm disappointed in you Japanator, the obvious choice is Kagami Hiiragi. The quick looks away, her complete and drastic switches from being embarrassed to being angry. Even the classic "here's the chocolate, I don't even really care, whatever."
Taiga, because you won't have to pay for a dominatrix if you want one for whatever reason, the sex would probably be good until you made her mad, if you had too you could say she was your little sister and get a free kids ticket to a theme park, and her embarrassment for saying the word penis. Or just because she is cute.
Easy. Asuka Langley Soryu. While she may not be as physically aggressive, especially when compared to Louise from The Familiar Zero, she constantly insults and tortures the emotionally unstable Shinji, meaning every action is multiplied in its effect drastically. Her Tsudere-ness is also the most psychologically based in her character; her aggressive status is not some crude character design randomly thrown in, but has a reason: the severe emotional strain she has faced in her life, and her desire to be superior to any and everyone she knows. In addition, despite the fact that see is appears later in the series than any of the other main characters, she is easily the most iconic figure of the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise, one of the single most influential and well known anime of all time. To think she is anything less than the Queen of the Tsundere, the ultimate demonstration of this cultural meme, would be ignorant of all that which is tsundere.
Brad, you have a cold or something?

Anyway, my favorite is Iori from The Idolm@ster. She just doesn't give a fu!k, but at the same time, she really does. She works so hard you please you, Producer-san! Why won't you let her in?!
She can dance and sing, too, so that's a plus.
I know it's cliche, but Haruhi Suzumiya...Let's face it, we live in a cold dark harsh reality. People have problems-lots of them! The odds of finding someone to love free of problems in the real world is impossible. It's part of the joy of Real World Love, working through problems together. But still, in the deep and farthest reaches of our minds (In The Moe Zone) we have an ideal relationship-Where someone will look past your problems and your troubles, call you out for the idiot that you are, but then take you by the hand and, with a smile, take you into a world of adventure and magic! Even though she puts on a tough face, and hides her problems and desires under superstition and eccentricity, she'd never show it too you. Her way of bringing you into her world isn't too try and ease her way into your life...She just drags you into it before you even know it! And doing that, she herself doesn't really know that's her way of getting you into her life.

It's perhaps comforting to know someone is in control-Even when they are not. Perhaps Tsundere is even rooted in the God Complex, maybe Tsundere love has roots is knowing that someone is indeed in control and has benevolence-a girl who is always at the Top of the World. Who better than a Tsundere like Haruhi to actually have those powers? She's the Ultra Leader for a reason!

Haruhi is my favorite because in the end, even if she thinks your completely useless-She'd watch out for you. Use her for diabolical purposes perhaps, but she's very protective of the SOS Brigade. And that's the best part...Even though she always so mad at the Normal World, she still won't do away with it. That is pure unrequited love for something right there! And that's something you just don't see much of in the real world.

N..Not that I mean all that or anything. I was just writing something for the T-Shirt, that's all...Don't get any wrong ideas! It's just a TV Character alright. Stop acting like such an idiot!

i'd have to say the dfc shana-tan. why you may ask? well its quite simple my furry loving friend. she can see and bring back dead people(well not really)
she has an awesome sword that flames on, which is perfect for a pyro like me and i love redheads.
I liked Asuka Langley and Katerose von Kreutzer, the two pseudo-German redheads from a time when tsundere were something relatively new. The difference between them and more recent tsundere is that their personalities actually seem believable. And while they are soft at the core, they are more than capable of standing on their own two feet, which is also a must in my book. On top of that, Asuka and Katerose may be tsundere, but "tsundere" is not their sole state of mind. That's something recent tsundere (like the Kugimiya-spawn) seem to lack. Shana, Haruhi, Taiga, Nagi and Louise are hardly individual characters; they're tsundere and that's pretty much all there is to them. It's almost as bad as the shounen protagonist archetype; so very uninspired and so very unlikeable.

Not sure I'd get along well with my two picks if they were real though. Tsundere should stay in 2D.
I will have to go with the one, the only, the icon, and my first, Shana. After being initially drawn in to her escapades by the image of her weilding her katana, I found myself stuck to her personality. Quickly I found myself riding the roller coaster of her budding relationship with Yuji. After I began screaming at the screen for Yuji to notice her and for her to just tell him I was rewarded with the beautiful end to season 1. The afterglow was quickly quashed however, and replaced with a need that remains to this day to see that vulnerable, yet overly guarded girl get the happiness that she truly deserves. The happiness she refuses to allow herself to attain.
Aisaka Taiga
It's not that I l-like Mion Sonozaki or anything it's just that she's the only person I c-could think of on such short notice! Some of you may argue that's she's not a TRUE tsundere and I would agree with you, b-because like I said it's not like I l-love her or anything, that's just silly! For the sake of argument though I'll explain why, if I l-liked Mion that is, she'd be my favorite tsundere.

Everyone knows Mion, after all not only is she the class president but she's also next in line to lead the Sonozaki household, one of the Three Families of Hinamizawa! B-but everyone knows that already! It's not like I did extensive research to find all of this out or like I snuck into the school late at night and stole a pair of her pantsu from her locker! R-really!

Anyone who's spent time with Mion, not that I-I'm one of those people, knows how much of a tomboy she is and how tough she acts. I mean she even refers to herself as an old-man and won't back down from any challenge...It's not like I a-admire her for that though! Most people don't know about her softer side, not that I've seen it myself and even if I did it w-wouldn't phase me one bit! But I-I heard this rumor from a friend of a friend that she really just wants to be treated like a girl sometimes.

Really though if Mion were to tell me she l-l-liked me I wouldn't mind...Oh man I hope she doesn't read Japanator!

(I know Mion isn't really a tsundere but she does have the traits of one. I just wanted to take part in the fun.)
Senjougahara. You save her life and in return she tries to staple your mouth shut. You don't even get to die from that like from Auska or Haruhi's attacks, you've just got to live with it.

"Oh dude, what happened to your face? You look like the principal's office had a war and you lost."
"Senjougahara."
"WTF, really?"
"Ya Rly. Pass the Jello?"
Tsundere is usually a female who runs “hot and cold” flipping between aggressive or confrontational and affectionate and sentimental (tvtropes).

One of the best examples and one of my favorite characters would have to be Aisaka Taiga from Toradora! Below are some comments on why I think she’s an excellent Tsundere.

-Most likely spoilers below!-
Taiga would fall under the Tsun type Tsundere as her default mood is cranky. Quite frankly she cannot even stand most people around her, and due to her brutal and short responses (along with stature) she was given the nickname “Palmtop Tiger”. She has a strong intensity of hating everyone and fighting her way through life, and easily has the strong blushing going on when around her love interest.

She uses many tactics such as violence, taunting, and acting cold.
In fact her first meeting with the main character results with an uppercut to his face. She commonly refers to the main character Ryuji as her dog to demean him(and show their relationship)and commonly calling him stupid. The affects are so traumatic (and hilarious) Ryuji even has a nightmare of marrying Taiga but while living in a dog pen and having puppies.

Taiga also has two major attractive traits of a tsundere. First she is independent, strong-willed girl, determined to do everything well. A great example of her strong willed mind was displayed during her swimming competition with Ami (who was known to be good at swimming). Taiga, who is not even comfortable getting in the water without a paddle worked very hard to improve. In a cute scene she is shown laying on a tatami mat practicing the free style.

Taiga also has many endearing traits such as her awkwardness with relationships. She cannot help but brightly blush and stutter verbally while being around her initial love interest, Kitamura. A good example of this is when Kitamura arrives to Ryuji’s house and Taiga tries to cook for him, eventually burning the fried egg while being nervous.

She also has a tough time forming relationships. Minus her best friend Taiga has an awkward time befriending other people. She is a nervous and cute wreck around her love interest, failing to make him cookies and burning a fried egg. The main character as stated before is called a dog for a long time, maybe to ease the transition to friendship. Taiga also refers to another girl Ami as “baka-chi” although they eventually befriend each other.

So that’s explaining why she’s a tsundere, but you may ask why do I love her then? I love Taiga for her cute personality, how she reacts around people, whether it is beating up or ordering Ryuji, randomly glomping her best friend Minori, or acting like an incapacitated mush around her love interest Kitamura. Her character definitely has the energy, violence, and random acts of moe and adorableness. She is a very emotional person who deeply cares about her friends and their well being. She also looks very cute and innocent but has a very strong confidence. I’m very big into girls with confidence… probably part of the tsundere love thing >>.
I love her physical size (being short), how emotionally she can be (anger or even displaying love-Maybe i.e when she saves Ryuji from the pool)

how cute she is when she is embarrassed or displayed as innocent. A great example is when she wears the white angel dress.

I even love the way she thinks and acts. A quote I will never forget, due to how relatable I find it :

“I can’t stand it when someone’s going off on their own, thinking they know what’s going on inside of me, and acting like they understand me! “ “Nobody should be able to understand how I feel.I mean… I mean… Even I don’t know…” @@.

Oh and I can’t forget how great of a job Rie Kugumiya did with her voice, it just solidifies any cute voices or acts of embarrassment down to her angry voice or when she’s demeaning someone.

-DEFINTELY SPOILERS BELOW !! –

One of my favorite things about Taiga and the show Toradora! is the transformation Taiga goes through addressing her weaknesses and knowing she cannot run away anymore. She begins to become more independent cleaning the house and taking care of herself and acts better dealing with relationships. She also stays consistent throughout the show with how she loves her friends or anyone she cares for. This transformation just makes me love her even more. It also shows her switching from TsunTsun into a Dere type Tsundere.

As the show progresses she sees herself falling in love with Ryuji. This leads to more continuous blushing and more random acts of violence as she’s unable to express or cope with these changes. A turning point and one of my favorite scenes in the show is when all the characters confront Taiga about how she loves Ryuji. She runs away in embarrassment and is later confronted by the main character where they smooth everything out.
Towards the end of the show you can really see her character development and she addresses her problems and fears in life deciding to no longer run away. In the last scene you can see her blushing for her love interest but still head butting him in the end for a classic scene. Transformation… complete.
We should publish these Tsundere descriptions in a new Tsundere dictionary. Or maybe an encyclopedia of Tsundere? With pictures!

As for my vote, Kagami Hiiragi of course. Despite what Jon did to her with that fat anime pic thread a few weeks back. Still haven't forgiven him for that. She acts all strong and cold, but desperately wants to be with company, even choosing classes she doesn't like; just to be with Tsukasa and the rest. Good god...looks like I am going to spend my saturday watching Lucky Star for the 50 millionth time. Yay!
Taiga. But I don't have a chance of winning thanks to Darksorrow29's fantastic post.

I would say I'm in love with Taiga but that sounds so very pathetic. But I will claim she's mai waifu. And I am asking people for a red scarf for Christmas because of the show, and mainly, her.
She's adorable, and and incredibly strong-willed girl for the most part. Confident, badass when she needs to be, and cute. Perfection.
And while she doesn't seem all that confident in the beginning, as the story progresses, she truly does become strong, and that really does show in the last few episodes of the show.
All the while remaining the cutest goddamn thing I've ever seen in any show.

She's my favorite tsundere, and probably favorite character ever. I quite like her.
Brad Rice is the ultimate tsundere. Every time I try to talk to him he punches me and tells me that he doesn't like me... but I know he does.
@King3vbo Are you sure you're not Necros logged into the wrong account. Because if he said that, you know it'd be 110% true.
Bah, it's all about Sakura Matō from Fate/Stay Night. I had to pick between her and Kaname Chidori but I think Sakura is the most dynamic out of the two in terms of personality. http://www.japanator.com/my-favorite-tsundere-sakura-mat--12568.phtml

Gah, I want that T-Shirt but there's no way in hell I will ever be able to outdo people on here with their reasonings.

As such, I'll probably just go and buy it like I was going to anyway, haha.
I vote for Gregory House. Every few episodes, he meets a patient who challenges him about his public declaration that all he is doing is solving puzzles, that human emotions and patients, only get in the way.

But then you see him pull stuff like lying to the transplant committee to get a new organ for a suicidal patient, knocking out Wilson so he could do the career-ending euthanasia lecture that Wilson was going to present, then seeing him break down after Cuddy rejects his advances.

I don't think an anime character can convey the range of emotions that House conveys, so it may be an unfair comparison. But he was the first character to come to mind when I thought tsundere.
My choice: Azu-nyan of K-ON!

She arrives like a spring breeze, a J-J-J-Jimmy Page in pigtails. Though quiet and polite at first, when the club members start slacking off, she reveals her true nature, berating them good like a tsundere should. Even the club advisor is cowed into submission by the ferocity of her tantrum.

Azu-nyan is the conscience of the light music club, always there to remind people when they aren't living up to their duties. She's the first to object when they blow off practice in favor of stuffing their faces. But she also has a softer side. She can be pacified with good music, head rubs, and cake. She pretends not to like playtime, but secretly enjoys it. She feels lonely and neglected sometimes, just like the rest of us. And despite fending off Sawa-chan-sensei's cosplay advances, she is willing to don cat ears for the sake of harmony.

Also, for those that prefer such things, she also comes in tanned palette swap version.
I posted my response in the community blogs.
Haha nice impression of a tsundere character.

I think Shizuku from Kampfer is the best tsundere. Shes a combination of all the best tsundere mashed into one. Sexy voice, long dark hair, sexy body, and is down to f*ck! (You will know if you watch the anime)
what? no Yukino Miyazawa? you people... tsk tsk!
Without a doubt -- Taiga the palmtop tiger!

She's super cute and shy but also fierce and assertive. Can't beat Taiga~
I think i will stick with Alice from Pandora Hearts . I have my reason well because in the anime , she uses excuses such as Oz is her manservant and therefore he should stay by her side and not abandoning her . She cares for Oz and while in her B-Rabbit form she considers about Oz's health to hold her power as a contractor . TALK ABOUT CONSIDERATIONS ! Well I agree , she is rather cold outside but that warm within her seem to ignite her Tsundere 's personality ^^ and hell , in the 2nd episode you can see her crying and the next moment : Hell , that Alice just now seem to be a hallucination .

Considering that she is a chain and she doesn't know much of human 's nature since she lost her memories , she ''bite'' Oz to cheer him up after Shalon show her a picture book about ''kissing'' .

And about Shalon Rainsworth , she looks like the complete opposite of Tsundere . While she appears to be gentle and kind like a rabbit , she slaps Break as if nothing when he makes her angry .
