Contest: Win some anime to share for the holiday season! photo

[Just a reminder to you all, get your entries in -- the contest ends tomorrow! Winners will be picked as soon as we can get through them all.]

Christmastime is rapidly approaching, and that means gift giving. Lots and lots of gift giving. It can be a pretty big strain on your wallet.

That's why we've teamed up with FUNimation to make your holidays a lot brighter. If you've got that nerdy sweetheart or a bro who's always there to watch anime with you, why not reward them with a box set of their very own? And, at the same time, keep a second copy of that series for yourself!

We've got eight series to give away: Love Hina, Spice and Wolf, Gun x Sword, Tower of Druaga, Baccano!, Dragonaut - The Resonance -, Initial D - First Stage and Tenchi Muyo! GXP. All you need to do is tell us in the comments what the best Christmas/Kwanzaa/Hanukkah gift you ever got was. We'll give you two copies of one of these series, and one lucky winner will get two copies of all eight!

The contest is open only to US residents, and will be running through December 14th. And while you're entering, be sure to sign up for the FUNimation Newsletter, where you'll see more cool updates from the company and hear about their special contests.

And in your entries, let us know who you'd share your second copy with. The sappier the better!

Lets' see...the best christmas present I ever got was my 2nd tablet XD It was like, 12x12 inches..but then it broke sometime around my birthday cause it fell off the wire since that's how my friend and I always picked it up XDDDD
*Lets' see...the best christmas present I ever got was my 2nd tablet XD It was like, 12x12 inches..but then it broke sometime around my birthday cause it fell off the wire since that's how my friend and I always picked it up XDDDD

And I'd most likely give the second copy to my best friend Sami~ 8D
The best christmas present that I ever recieved was a plaque that my little brother had made for me. It has my name on it and what it means with a really awesom native american background with wolves. It meant a lot because it was a gift that had so much thought put into it.

If I won one of the prizes I would definately share it with my best friend Loni. Like me she is a complete otaku and we love to travel to different conventions together. She is practically a sister to me. She has been going through a terrible time in her life, and through our friends and anime she has been pulling through it. She loves to forget about the real world for a little while and get involved in the great story lines just like I do. I would love to be able to share such an awesom gift with her.
The absolute best Christmas gift I ever got was my Playstation way back in like 1999 or 2000. I literally flipped out seeing as I had never had my own console system before. I hope I can win, I can think of one friend for each boxset and all my friends will get anime this christmas!!!
Best gift I ever received was my first anime set of fruits basket. I have only recently discovered anime and all its goodness so it was so awesome. I would give Adam a copy because I brought him into it as well. We can so geek out together!!!!
About four or so years ago I got my cat! I wandered downstairs after my parents woke me up and there she was, sleeping in a basket with a great big bow tied around her collar under our tree. Definitely the BEST gift I've ever received.
The best christmas present I ever got would have to be an ipod nano. If i win the contest I would share it with my best friend after all what are best friends for :). I also wish everyone who entered this contest luck :D
About four or so years ago I got my cat! I wandered downstairs after my parents woke me up and there she was, sleeping in a basket with a great big bow tied around her collar under our tree. Definitely the BEST gift I've ever received.

I'd probably share the second copy with my mom [Oh yes, she has her own anime collection] since she'd be really excited.
The best gift I ever got would have to be my first game console. It was playstation and it was the gift that changed my life. Thanks to videogames I started to get into anime and here I am.
How could I ever chose just one best gift? They were all so important, especially now, knowing how hard it was for my family when I was younger. My best gift? That's simple. My best gift was being able to get gifts in the first place.
The best gift I ever received would be my first computer. It without a doubt changed the way my life was to be lived, And I don't know how it would have been if I didn't get it then.

I would give any second copies to my friends, might as well give them something ;p.
My chair. My monitor, desk, computer, mouse, keyboard, layout, bed/futon...everything has changed since I started watching anime hardcore..except my chair I got in Christmas 2004. I'd give a copy to either my best friend or my brother, depending on which one seems more interested in the genre.
the best christmas present I recived was my ipod i cant live with out it. If i won id give the second copy to my sister
best gift i ever got was a wacom tablet, instead of just going around and exploring the interwebs it gave me something to do and i can actually draw now :3
best christmas present? lol
It's the 18" computer screen that I got last christmas, because it's still in its packaging. XD Never opened it because I also got a laptop, not to mention the other computer was only used when necessary. Oh, and I can't remember the last time we turned that computer on. :D
i'll share the secound copy with one of my recluse friends who sits around watching anime all day on the weekends, she'll love it :D
The best xmas present I got was my Sega Genesis when I was a kid. I'm pretty sure that if I hadn't gotten that as a child I would have never gotten into gaming and not be pursuing the course of study I am right now, Game Design. If I did win I would give my girlfriend the second copy.
The best gift I ever received would have to be when my big brother came home for Christmas last year. He had moved clear across the country a few years back, so for him to enjoy Christmas with us was a real treat for me, and it felt just like old times.

I would definitely give the second copies to my best friend, Jay; he's a huge anime fan, just like me. So it'd be nice to give him something anime-related for being a good friend for the past 6 or so years. ^^;
It's a Mickey Mouse watch. Weird? Yes. It was the parting gift of one of my closest friends. I was something like eleven, but it meant a lot to me, mostly because I'd never really had a Christmas present before it (my parents were immigrants, so...). I can't say I've taken the best care of it over the years, and it was the last I saw of him before he moved to the States.

I'd give my second copy to my best friend, though. He stuck with me through and through during high school, when I was essentially a social pariah, and I've never really thanked him properly for that. Possibly in perfect tsundere fashion.
The best Christmas gift I can remember getting was a Gamecube that was given to me and my brothers. We also recieved SSBM, Pikmin, and Luigi's Mansion. We spent hours playing SSBM and unlocking just about everything on the first day. I'm not sure who I would give the second copy to since I don't really know anyone. I might just give it to someone I don't know to create an awkard moment.
The best gift i ever got was my PS3. I'd give the second copy to my best friend
As far as I can remember, I think the best Christmas present that I ever got was my aunt. No, she didn't come in a brightly wrapped up box. We had been talking over the internet, discussing what we were doing over the holidays (this was about six years ago). I hadn't seen my aunt in a very long while (she is my favorite aunt), so I though to invite her. She decline, saying that she already had plans the following week.

And what do I get the next week for Christmas? My awesome aunt!
Best Christmas present i ever got was when i was around 5 my parents bought me the power rangers Zarden/fortress set and i played with that for years
...or perhaps disregard that altogether, because nothing cool ever gets to happen in Canada.
Best Christmas gift I ever got was a collective gift to be shared with my siblings. Motherfuckin Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Parents even got us a Super Scope and Battle Clash. First game I ever dominated.
I'd probably wind up giving both copy's to my two best friends because they love anime as much as I do but they can't buy as much
I think the best Christmas gift I have received was my Gamecube in 2002. To this day I still hold it to be one of the best game consoles of all time. So underrated!

I'd probably give the second boxset to my sister.
:)
The best Christmas present I ever received was a trip to New York City. I was looking at colleges at the time, and I had planned to go to New York for a day, as it was, but my mother surprised me with an overnight stay and a broadway show. I ended up seeing "Next to Normal," which may now be my favorite musical. I was blown away by the play, and I've had a hankering to see more depressing theater ever since.

I'd probably give the other copy of my prize to my roommate. He's a casual anime fan, and I've been trying to get him into other series for a while, now. "Baccano!" would be a great title for that! :D
The best Christmas gift I ever received would have to be our trampoline. My two sisters and I wanted a trampoline so badly throughout our entire childhood, and finally when I was 11 my parents were able to afford one. There was much rejoicing. However, this was also the worst Christmas I ever had because after showing us the trampoline, my parents asked us to finish unwrapping presents before we went out to play on it. While we were unwrapping our presents inside, 2 neighboring kids snuck onto our trampoline and were horsing around. Somehow in that small span of time they managaed to rip a giant whole across the majority of the trampoline. They got in trouble, but we never got to experience our own trampoline :( Still, for those few short minutes before it was ruined, that was the most joyous and awesome Christmas present we ever received.

As for the second copy, I'd give it to best friend since he's the only one I know who likes anime aside from myself.
the best Christmas gift I've ever received would have to be the Nintendo DS that a good friend of mine gave me last year with Kingdom Hearts in it :) I couldn't believe it when he handed it to me. I was speechless and he thought I didn't like it at first >_< it took me forever to convince him that i LOVED it!!! lol and i would give the 2nd copy to my best friend Kelly who loves anime as much as i do!! we sit around watching them all the time and she lets me borrow her DVD's and manga bc she's freaking awesome and it would be really cool if i could repay the favor by giving her something as awesome as a box set of one of these anime for Christmas! :)
well since I have to share who I'd give my second copy to(not sure if its actually needed to enter but you asked so...) I guess I'd give it to a friend who was asking about good show to watch since they're new in to the whole anime thing.
Hmm, let's see, the best christmas present I ever got huh? Let me think...Oh, I know! My favorite present I got was from my Gram's and that was my Nintendo Wii! I play it all the time and it's just so, so, soooooooo much fun! Oh, and if I won, I'd give it to my big sister, she does alot for me, so why wouldn't I do something nice for her?
the best gift i ever got was, believe it or not, a surprise visit from my grandma during cristmas. i hardly get to see her these days, even more so now thats shes gotten older. but that christmas i had be sorta wishing to myself that my grandma could be down here with the rest of our family and when i opened the door that christmas to see my grandma there, i nearly fainted from excitement xD

i was 14 at the time, and its been 5-6 years since then, but i still will always remember that christmas ^^ cause its not about the gifts under the tree, its about all of the family coming together and enjoying each other company while forgetting about the worries of daily life
For me the best Christmas present i ever recieved was my first anime EVER it was the manga yugioh and i fell in love with it. it was from my older sister who passed away last year she had a bad car crash... if i win i would give the secound copy to the convention i go to they have this "send a anime gift to an army in iraq" and i always wanted to but never had money to buy anything to give and if i win i WILL give them it.
The best Christmas present I got was a big brown Teddy bear 16yrs ago. It was an early Christmas present before my uncle passed away after being in a coma during the holidays. I still have the Teddy bear and will always cherish it forever.
My best Chrismas gift i had was a guitar and I always play with it Untill It got broken
Best gift I ever got was a GameBoy Color and Pokémon Red.

I won a Pokémon contest to get Mew in a Black Friday contest at Toys R Us, but didn't have Pokémon. I begged my parents for both Pokémon and a GameBoy Color all A Cristmas Story like. During Christmas I opened my presents and saw that my younger sister got one and a bunch of games.

I tried my best to not act jealous, well, the best an 8 year old could. After breakfast, I got on the computer to go on the internet. I took out my chair and what did I see? 3 Presents! Frantically unwrapping them to reveal a Game Boy Color, Pokémon Red, and Mission Impossible. I then noticed that the Pokémon box was already opened.

Curiously opened the box to find that the cartridge had a Mew sticker on it. I asked my mom about it and she said that she stole my voucher for Mew and went to Toy's R Us to redeem it. Needless to say, I was ecstatic that I was the only kid on my block to have a legal Mew. I still got the GameBoy Color and the Pokémon Red with the Mew sticker.
The best christmas gift I ever received was my crappy 18 inch tv back in 1999. Pokemon was all the rage you see and I had asked Santa for a real Pokemon. Little did I know that was never gonna be a reality. The gift I ended up unwrapping was this weird heavy square box with wires and stuff coming out of the end. I can't honestly say it was the best christmas I ever had but it's the gift my parents=(aka Santa) put the most thought into.
My best present by far was the gingerbread pin I received from my baby brother. He was 7 at the time and did not have any money to get anything except for his parents and he took the pin he bought for himself and gave it to me. This is also very special to me because I only get to see my baby brother and dad once a year. So the fact that he gave me that made me super happy and its a reminder of him. If I were to win the 2nd copy would go to my best friend that has stuck by me for the longest. One because she is a huge anime fan and has helped me out alot and two because me and my friend are both people who share our things so our other friends would also be able to borrow them and enjoy them as well.
The best Christmas present I ever got was my grandma coming down the first Christmas after we moved out of state. We weren't able to make it up for the ACTUAL Christmas date, so two days later we open our door to find her, mt great-aunt, and great-grandma on our porch holding armfuls of goodies and presents.

If I win this I would give the second set to my brother. He's in college, in another state no less, and because of that can't buy anime anymore. I'm positive he'd love it.
The best christmas gift I ever got was my original brick of a Game Boy entertainment system from my aunt.
My family had moved out of the state where I was born and went in every christmas to celebrate with family. When visiting my aunt she gave me a game boy pack, that I still have, that contained the Game Boy and a copy of tetris that I still play when bored, even if it is a bit dusty.
The best Christmas Gift I have ever received is most definitely the Snuggie I got last year. I know right! The blanket with sleeves! It really told me that my parents actually pay attention to me. lol. I would freak out every time the commercial would come on, but I never knew they cared about me so much. :D I can now talk on the phone, watch tv, eat popcorn, and hi-five without compromising warmth for my arms. I feel like I've been a fool all these years! But thanks to my Snuggie I've grown as a person and even learned how to properly dance the macarana.

I would share my copy with either my friend Jaden or Sterling. Depending on the anime title of course. They both like different genres and I seem to be the middle ground between the two. We've all known each other since Freshman year in High School, where they dubbed me "anime andy". It's been great getting to know them, eating sushi, watching anime, playing video games, and going to anime expo together. I think this would be the next step in our relationship. Please help me continue our friendship! =]
The best Christmas gift I ever got was my PS2. Oh the joy I had, when I opened up my first next gen system of that generation. OMG THE GRAPHICS!

I would totally give my second copy to my best friend and fellow otaku Jordon. God I love our weekly anime discussions.
Oh, and about who I would give it to: I got two friends that love anime. One likes Moé, the other Shonen. So depending what I win, depends on who gets it. Wish it wouldn't have to be that arbitrary, but I'm not going out with anyone right now. So make the best of it right?
The best gift I received on Christmas was a mutt puppy, named blue. He was one of the best dogs I've ever had. I am pretty sure it was the Christmas of my 10th year.
The best gift I got was my Xbox. I had great fun playing that with my friends. I would share the copy with my brother since he will enjoy it alot.
The best present I ever got for christmas....

That would probably be back when I was a young'n, I got Pokemon Red. This was during the craze of Pokemon, which I knew nothing about other than talk from my classmates. So, I decided to ask Santa for it so I could try this rumored "awesome game". It was an amazing experience. I became hooked on that little thing. Soon after that, I actually started watching the series. That little game basically made me the anime fan I am today.

And I would randomly send them to a friend I haven't talked to in a while who lives in another state. I'm sure she'll be so surprised when she find a bunch of anime on her doorstep from an old friend :)
The best gift I ever got was a singing spiderman lamp. When you press the on button little spiderman turns to look like he's web-blasting while some chorus sings the spiderman theme. Best. Lamp. Ever.
Best gift I got for Christmas was a goddamn waffle iron. It was part of a prank that my mother decided to play on me back when I was in elementary school. I practically begged my mom for a Gamecube when it came out, so I was expecting one... The box seemed the right shape and was heavy enough, and when I unwrapped it, BOOM! Waffle iron. Yeah, I was really angry at first, but I made some pretty damn good waffles since then. :D I'd probably help out the Anime Club at my school in yet another giveaway with my additional copy, or give to one of my anime-loving siblings/cousins for Christmas.
The best christmas gift I ever got was, oddly enough, a pair of Invader Zim pajama pants from my sister's boyfriend. I've gotten cool video games, movies and stuff over the years but these pajamas were the best. He didn't even have to get me anything because I had only just met him then and he overheard me talking about them. Now I pretty much live in those pants. I'd give a different series to each of my closest friends who also love anime, and Love Hina would go to my older sister because that's her favorite series.
