Though by "otaku idol" I mean an idol of otaku rather than an idol who is an otaku.
If you haven't heard yet, Japan's PSP multiplayer scene is hot (hot HOT), and publishers have been releasing game after game for the platform, hoping to catch the wave set off by Monster Hunter. Among them is Phantasy Star Portable 2, due in December. But the game is going to need a new gimmick to slay Capcom's behemoth.
And apparently one of those new gimmicks is to fill the world with external references, such as including the Sony mascot cats Toro and Kuro as in-game companions. Sega has also pulled a Code Geass, partnering up with Pizza Hut to open an in-game restaurant, and producing ridiculous-looking pizza-box shields and pizza-pan swords. C.C. would be in heaven.
Topping it all off, fans of Type-Moon, Gainax, or Hatsune Miku can download outfits and weapons matching their favorite characters'. Expect to see players dressed up in Saber's armor, wielding the Lance of Longinus, or rocking a leek-shaped cannon. That's awesome.
While the chances of it coming out here are slim (despite its having proper online play rather than local-only), I really wish it could. Hope against hope, PSP users! We need this.
