I've always wondered: just how important are the little details to cosplayers?
When I talked with Colette about her Persona 4 cosplay (which was awesome), the fact that she didn't have her character's gun was a big sticking point with her. I felt that, ignoring that detail, the costume looked stunning and most people aren't even going to care.
While I was talking with my friends at New York Anime Fest, and lamenting the lack of K-ON! cosplay, I suddenly wondered: would cosplayers go so far as to buy Mio's infamous shimapan for their cosplay? What about Miku cosplayers?
Now, I'm no Dale North, so you won't catch me by the stairs at a con, casually looking up peoples' skirts and snapping photos, but I still have an idle bit of curiosity about this. So I turn to you, the cosplaying masses here at Japanator: do you try to replicate every last detail about the character, down to the panties, eye color, or the like? How come?
Or are those panties only bought for cosplay sex? (Cue people saying "that just sullies the act of cosplaying!")
