Crunchyroll bringing content to Zune Marketplace photo

Crunchyroll has been streaming a large portion of the recent seasons on their site pretty consistently now. Not only that, they brought an iPhone and iPad app out so you can catch your shows on the go.

But what about people who aren't Apple users? Well, if you have any device that can access the Zune Marketplace, you can now watch a selection of Crunchyroll's shows there. It's not the usual streaming service, though -- this time it's download-to-own. Only downside is that the launch lineup is a little short, but the shows featured are good: Giant Killing, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and... Yokuwakaru Gendai Maho. I'm sure there's fans out there somewhere for that last one.

So how about it? Anyone with an Xbox or Zune interested in digitally owning some of these shows? Waiting for the lineup to increase? Or are you even interested in download-to-own?

I don't really like owning content that I can't move around so this is a pass, but I'm glad that anime is searching out many different avenues.
Found another Downside...
"content not available in your region"
The UK has been given the bum deal again. Along with probably several other countries.
I'll get you America, one of these days!
Not really all that interested in "download to own". When it comes to media I'd rather own an actual physical copy of it. Streaming is fine, but I'd never spend money on a "download to own" program.
well i have 2 zunes, a 30 i use for my music and podcast. and an 80 i use for movies. so i guess i will have to see how this turns out.

mainly how they format the subs for such smaller screens. I mean, i already encode a few of my fav fan-subbed eps to watch when im at the Dr office or at work when i can get away with watching them. But I already know what's going on. I made the mistake of upping a few Eps of Hataraki Man and the subs are pretty unreadable and that was on the larger screen on the Zune 80.

As a replacement for DVD ? No thanks I so no advantage. As a replacement for the Bluray we do not have(legally) available anyway ? I might consider it if download to own stepped things up a notch. I would prefer a physical copy in either case.
I don't own Zune stuff. But glad to see it is at least coming to more things. I myself would rather have DVDs though instead of downloads since if I really want it on the go, I can convert to an iPad format and use that.
If the offerings expand, I might be interested in this. As it stands, I'm hopeful for the service, but otherwise uninterested.
The Xbox60 HD isn't exactly big.
Upside-down Landa wins
I pay every month for crunchyroll, they should have a 360 app to stream if you are a member on crunchyroll. The iphone/itouch app doesnt work very well as-is so a better system to stream like 360 would do fine. It can stream netflix and not crunchyroll, what a jip. I wouldn't want to own a DLC anime on an xbox 360.
I dont really mind download to own.
Considering Microsoft is working on getting Zune global, even though its at a slow pace, plus windows phone 7 plus xbox plus I hear they are working on a tablet version for Windows 8 and possibly WP7 for tablets its not such a bad thing. So eventually people who have these devices wont have to worry.
They were talking about content eg: games, apps and media would be transferable between the Xbox, windows computer, zune, and windows phones/possibly tablets in the coming year. Eventually you would be able to carry the media with you anywhere. Hope it works out and expands to have more options.
