Crypton to develop English-language Vocaloid software photo

As of writing this, the Facebook page for Hatsune Miku has over 40,000 fans. That number, which keeps rising plenty, has beat Crypton's goal of 39,390 fans that they asked for in order to do an English-language version of Hatsune Miku's voice back at New York Anime Fest/Comic Con.

So that means that now we'll be hearing all sorts of Western fans creating Lady Gaga and Kanye West Miku songs. I bet you can't wait, now can you?

The folks at Crypton have been looking at how to expand their extremely popular Vocaloid software to new markets, and the English-language market is a huge possibility for them. Already there have been English-language works using the current Vocaloid software, but they're really all done in Engrish -- not the best that they could be.

Now we'll be looking forward to what Crypton brings us in 2011, when the Vocaloid software should be ready for Western consumption -- I presume they were already working on it before their announcement, anyways. I mean, just look at the Miku fandom here. Plenty of people are bound to buy it.

So, if someone wants to make a Miku version of "Dynamite," I'd be down for that.

I throw my hands up in the air sometimes
Singing ayo! DOUBLE RAINBOW!

I'm glad to say I actively participated in giving Miku an English voice. Now I just wonder... who will 'voice' her? Hayley Williams? Christina Aguleira? Willow Smith?
hmm.. before I was happy about an English Miku..
but I think I'm now a bit weary as to what songs are going to be made with Miku in English.. I'm hoping we don't get a bunch of top-40 pop covers like gaga or... whatevers in right now.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out. If I remember the seiyuu that her voice is based on said she would learn English for it, but I'm not sure if that would work. If it turns out well I would definitely be interested in giving it a spin though.

I think I remember hearing that the person whose voice was used for the soundbanks is going to stay the same.
@Mari Hikiko
If they start doing that, more likely than not people will start comparing the two versions. It's going to be interesting when people even agree the two are comparable.
There are already is an English Vocaloid.

Her name is Ke$ha.
Please jebus no, vocaloid's are the most useless and retarded waist of time ever. You hate the top 40 now, wait till you get the Justin Beiber vocaloid singing covers of Journey! This can not end well, all people working on this should be dragged out into the street and shot.
@TruthTellah: Zap & Roger would like a word with you! Or Ke$ha...

This is cool. I'd want to see someone mix in Miku with Easy E.
Ok how many days do you think it will take until there is a miku version of 36 mafia's loli loli up on youtube? My bets are on 10 days.
@TheUndeadFish well, there's no stopping them...

however, still an 'ew', nonetheless, lol
So, do you guys really think they're going to keep using Saki Fujita's voice for the sound data and just add the other pronunciation sounds that Japanese lacks compared to English? or do you think we'll get a totally different character and voice?

Something tells me Fujita-san would have a lot of trouble trying to fill in the gaps of vocaloid's existing audio database...
if they change the voice it wont be Miku. my main issue with this is that japanese FLOWs really well as music, especially compared to english.
I guess I should post this link because its related or something.

I still want the damn supercell miku album. >< If I can get that, I don't care what they do.
@All the people questioning whether Saki Fujita will still be the voice provider

It was mentioned by Crypton (on twitter I think) that Saki Fujita had agreed to take English lessons.
So it is pretty much a safe bet that she will do the voice for English Miku.
Besides, I think even Crypton knows that picking a different person to do the voice would make it so that she doesn't sound like Miku anymore.

A perfect example is Big-Al, they switched from Michael King to Frank Sanderson in the middle of recording, because King was too busy with touring to come in and do more recording, and you can very easily hear the difference.

This is awesome news! If I have the money when it comes out, I would definitely get the software.
