Our friends at Vertical want to get you involved with Black Jack. While they have yet to pair up with a medical school to teach you how to be as awesome a doctor as Mr. Jack, they are giving you a chance to put your graphical skills to the test.

Right now they've got a blog set up called Black Jacket Mechanical where you can read the rules for the contest and check out some of the other entries. We're a little late to the game on this one, so you've got until September 7th to submit your designs to pmendelsund[at]randomhouse[dot]com with images in .jpg format (preferrably).

Be sure to read through the rules, as well as the other posts, because there's a lot of interesting information contained in there, and for those of us not already familiar with color theory and design, it shows just how much thought goes into these products.

It's a cool possibility for all of you up and coming designers. Let us know if you throw your hat into the ring: we'll be here cheering you on!
