Dio reads the wrong book at the wrong time

Dio reads the wrong book at the wrong time photo

It appears as if Dio, the main baddie from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure has pissed off an entire real world religion by reading the Qur’an while vowing to kill Jotaro. This forced Abdul Hamid Al-Atrash, of Al-Azhar University to say, “The scene depicts Muslims as terrorists.” This is an enemy not even Dio can win against, so Japanese publisher Shueisha halted all shipments of the anime and manga in order to fix this problem.

This all happened in the sixth episode of the newest OVA series. The animators wanted to make the book Dio was reading look Arabic, so they unknowingly put pages from the Qur’an to fill this void. This isn’t a new pratice, try reading the large blocks of English text in an anime, you will be surprised. For example, in an episode of Gundam Wing one such blocks of text was taken directly from an Adobe Photoshop manual.

Now Shueisha is reviewing the entire series and manga to find problematic scenes that might insight more anger, specifically changing buildings that might look like mosques. What’s next, Dio was looking in the general direction of a mosque when he punched Jotaro?

Dio wasn’t being anti-Islamic, he was just reading a book, while speaking to Jotaro at the same time; there is no hate in that. This was simply a mistake by the animators. But is it so wrong for him to be reading the Qur’an in the first place? Since Dio was in Egypt at the time, it would be likely that he would run into the book sooner or later.

Woah, we seemed to post this at the same time! Anyway, here that letter:

What. The. F*ck. Seriously, people need to get over themselves. Dio likes to read and therefore, being in Egypt, he would probably read the most popular thing around, the Qur'an....

Also, considering that episode is over 6 years old at this point you can tell this guy is just some pissant looking for something to bitch about.
Jesus Christ. There. Is anyone getting pissed off to the point of filling a lawsuit using his name? No. Why? because Muslim and Islam is the ONLY religion that can't handle being talked about at all (Scientology doesn't count since it's not a religion. It's a business cult.). Do you see Protestants or Catholics or Jews go so far as to file lawsuits whenever people talk smack about their religion? I mean jeez. These people need to get over themselves big time and just get a clue.

Will muslims ever stop bitching?
Having lived in an Islamic country most of my life before coming to America, this is serious business. But I know this'll blow over before we know it.
As a muslim, I'm quite appalled that people are bitching about such a silly reference. The Qu'ran is just a guide book (a superb one at that), so I don't understand why it couldn't be depicted as such. People are really being oversensitive, and at times like this, it could ruin the religion's image.

Oh well, to each his own, I guess.
So are they seriously gonna stop distributing the whole entire JoJo manga because of this or just Series 3?

And this is gonna affect Viz's distribution of Series 3 here? :( I was afraid this might happen since JoJo is too damn obscure.

And what about the current series Steel Ball Run?
