In any case, all I'm trying to say is that it's not that surprising that a hentai beat one of the greatest shounen series to being released on Bluray.
I agree. I own Afro Samurai Season 1 on BluRay, and although there´s a difference, it´s not as great as live action movies, and almost all the HD anime i´ve seen, is the same story.
More than definition, i think Bluray´s advantage (with anime) is capacity; this format let companies to cram an entire season in 1 or 2 discs, with 480p def (a really good def for anime) which should be great. The sad part is they chose to ignore this and keep the same stupid practices of selling 4 episodes per disc.
Like Bandai is doing with Code Geass.
Not to mention Blu-Ray sales are not doing very good...
Is... uh... Discipline any good?
*glances left and right*
And I would love Gurren Lagann on Blu-ray. Not sure how likely it is though...
Besides, Discipline was awesome! Not exactly Sexfriend, but still awesome.
Gurren Lagann will get its day...After Maid in Heaven.

I agree with you, but more discs = more money/units/whatever it is that the companies need to ensure success. That is starting to change with more shows being released in season sets, though.
Also, Blu-ray releases are in the high 20-low 30's range for the mainstream releases, and we all know what some releases of Anime are like price-wise vs. A copy of Iron Man on regular dvd. All for the blu-ray releases, but I'm happy waiting until they're not so cruel to my wallet.

Only people who haven't actually experienced Blu-Ray ever say that it's not worth the money and that there isn't a difference. There is a massive difference between Blu-Ray and regular craptastic DVD. It's like going from Betamax to HD-DVD, but better. You literally cannot watch anything that isn't blu-ray after having seen the way things should look.
