Dragon Ball Kai sounds like the Saiyan renaissance

Dragon Ball Kai sounds like the Saiyan renaissance photo

While poking my head in at Topless Robot in order to rage at the new Deadpool figure, I came across this little tidbit about the re-broadcasting of Dragon Ball Z in Japan.

We already knew this new version would be broadcast in HD, but here's the interesting thing: apparently they'll be re-editing the show to cut out all of the time-stretching techniques they used in the show -- three-minute-long recaps, mindless grunting, and everything in between. Hell, they're even bringing the seiyuu back in to re-record lines.

So, no longer will we have FUNi's letterboxed DVDs. where characters' faces are all cut off. I'm sure they'll be more than glad to release the new HD version here in the 'States -- which will be called Dragon Ball Kai. The show will start airing in Japan on April 5th.

You have no idea how excited I am for this. Seriously.
