Atari, the once prominent but now laughable company that's been producing Dragon Ball Z games, may have to stop soon. FUNimation served Atari with an SEC filing, notifying them that their rights to use their DBZ license was being terminated. According to GamesIndustry.biz:
"[Atari] disputes the validity of the termination notices and has continued to distribute the titles covered by the license agreements," the company stated in the SEC filing, noting that the parties were in discussions attempting to resolve the issue.
The games have made Atari a bunch of money -- $85 million in 2005. If the license ends up being taken from them, that would put Atari even further in the red, beyond the $69 million they posted last year. There's no word as to who's looking at swooping up the license, but right now, I'll put my money on Sega.
