Dragon Quest tops requests for Hollywood adaptation of games photo

What with the popularity of Hollywood adapting all sorts of stories from Japan, like Dragonball Evolution, Speed Racer, and Resident Evil, a recent survey asked about 5,000 people what games they'd like to see adapted into movies. Caught on Sankaku Complex, here's the rundown of the list:

  1. Dragon Quest
  2. Takeshi's Challenge 
  3. Metal Gear
  4. Tetris
  5. Spelunker
  6. The Legend of Zelda
  7. The Mother series (Earthbound)
  8. Ace Attorney series
  9. Portopia Serial Murder Case
  10. Grand Theft Auto

Well, out of this list, I can see Metal Gear, Grand Theft Auto, and Tetris as the most likely to actually get time on the silver screen, although I really think The Legend of Zelda and the Ace Attorney series would make some great adaptations, if put in the right hands. But that's not going to happen for a while, I think.

I think the Zelda would be good if done in the style of Lord Of The Rings by Peter Jackson.

but on that note, I think that hollywood would probably go after the zelda franchise

and also tetris, "surprising" us with a heart-warming story about a mover who has to be able to stack boxes in order to find true love...

I think the Ace Attorney would be a little hard with all the inner monologue phoenix has. i think itd be difficult to show exactly how much he's bumbling through a case haha.
i don't think any rpg would be good as a movie, maybe as like an HBO tv series....too much plot and content.
i wouldn't mind seeing a megaman movie though :3

Not surprising to see Dragon Quest on there, since there is a Final Fantasy movie already and it caused Squaresoft to go bankrupt. Takeshi's Challenge is Blu-ray day one for me, by the way.

So yeah, everything's fine with me as long as they keep their stinking hands off Shadow of the Colossus. Though there's no way Hollywood would want that, right? Ahahaha...haha...hah..

Michael Bay presents TETRIS, the world as you know it will fall down this July 4th...then disappear with a completed row.

I don't know if I should cheer happily or cower in fear at that prospect

i honestly can't see how tetris makes a good movie,
also i am suprised japanese gamers actually appreciated grand theft auto's setting and story.

Takeshi's Challenge? Jesus, not even Warhol would be able to figure out how to put that anti-game to film.

Tetris? What the heck, how are you supposed to make a movie out of a video game that has not storyline?

Metal Gear would make an awesome movie...well, movies actually because it would be hard to make just one.

I think the Devil May Cry series would also make good action packed movies, that is, if they were made well.

I think it would be amusing to see some bad director from Hollywood attempt Tetris. Hell, it would be hilarious to see Peter Jackson do it. Fun times for everyone, even more so when alcohol is involved.

They sure have a united sense of humor for Tetris to be that high up. I've always wanted to see "Tetris the Animation"
