One of the things I love about Japanator and Destructoid (and the ModernMethod network in general) is that we have a very laid back attitude when it comes to breaking news. We don't bend over backwards to get the news up first, and I think our readers are more into what we have to say about that news than the news item itself. Besides, no matter how fast you are, someone else already had the news before you!
I bring this up because I just managed to crawl out from under a pile of instant messages and emails telling me that DreamWorks is working on a 3D Ghost in a Shell film. No offense to any tipsters (I appreciate it!), and I suppose that's big news, but I felt the need to focus on Lelouch toy porn and retro game store maps first. That's just how we do things here.
DreamWorks beat out Universal and Sony for the remake rights of Masamune Shirow's popular franchise. Zap2It says that Jamie Moss will adapt the work for producers Avi Arad, Ari Arad and Steven Paul of Seaside Entertainment. It's said that Stephen Spielberg had something to do with DreamWorks getting the rights.
I don't know about you, but I'd rather have real actors than a "3D thriller." That's still animation in my book. I'd rather see real people doing real things. If this film was to use live actors, who do you think should play The Major? And what do you think about a 3D Ghost in the Shell overall?
