After seasons after seasons of following TV anime from Japan, I rarely splooge on first sight. But I make an exception for this stuff.
It all makes sense once we put together some facts we do know about Eden of the East, which is slated to start this April:
Production IG is producing it. You know those guys right?
It's slotted for NoitaminA, which is this Japanese TV programming segment where they showcase all these josei/shoujo anime like Honey & Clover, Paradise Kiss and Nodame Cantible, just to name a few. It's got a good track record and fairly decent viewership stats for its relatively late-night time slot. Sometimes it even has shows average guys would enjoy, like Jyu-Oh-Sei or Moyashimon.
The director is Kenji Kamiyama, who is also the original creator of the concept and story for this show. He is most notable from the two Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex TV series, where he also directed and served as the chief writer. Plus Solid State Society. And directed a little award-winning show called Moribito.
It's got Oasis, you know, those britpop boys that flooded the radio in the mid '90s? A track, Falling Down, from their latest album, will serve as OP.
If none of that means anything, maybe by reading the synoposis (something to do with missiles, the White House, a naked Japanese man and government conspiracies), or by looking at the gorgeous anime-style backgrounds of modern Washington DC done to a signature Kenji Kawai soundtrack (at the show's Japanese home page) might do something to move you. If not that, then maybe the fact how Chika Umino's character designs make the mysterious protagonist look like Shinobu Morita from Umino's Honey & Clover? Still no go? I give up, you tough cookie you.

Looks amazing. He does look like Morita (MY FAVE CHARACTER EVAAAAR!!!) and has a bit of his eccentric-ness as well. I know what I'm definitely watching next season no matter what.
Wow, this was completely off my radar but that trailer completely sold me.
The best anime always comes out in the spring and summer seasons. Why is that?
Kenji Kamiyama, with him involved, most likely America will either be the bad guys, America will be blown up or the government will fall apart. He doesnt seem to like the US.
