So Namco is going to be introducing a lot of new features in Soulcalibur IV. They know there's going to be some information overload, so the good folks at Namco have released this very helpful manga guide that details how the game works and some of the new features that will be introduced into the game.
The manga stars newcomer, and good lookin' gal, Princess Hilde Wolfkrone along with veteran, and also good lookin' gal, Cassandra Alexandra. Cassandra helps out Hilde by showing her the basics to the game such as moving, basic fighting and so on. Eventually, Hilde becomes the teacher and shows Cassandra a thing or two about the new game.
Some of the new stuff looks pretty interesting. The levels will have "gimmicks" such as moving walls and armored soldiers coming at you and it also looks like character customization is getting overhauled. I'm going to make a character with a giant bulge and focus all of his attacks to involve his crotch. Just because I can.
Destructoid's Editor-in-Chief, Nick Chester, went to CAPTIVATE 08 a couple of months ago to preview a bunch of upcoming Capcom games. While there, it was revealed that Street Fighter IV would have anime style prologues and endings for each character. He posted some screenshots but now we the full video of Ryu's prologue.
The video starts off with a seemingly beaten Ryu being confronted by Akuma. Akuma looks to be trying to drive out the essence of Evil Ryu, which just makes Ryu remember his master who fell at the hands of Akuma. This memory reignites Ryu and gets him back up to take on Akuma. Ryu is about to throw a giant Hadouken into Akuma's face when an old friend steps into the fight.
Overall, pretty impressive. The animation looks great and it looks like a lot of work is going to be put into all of these movies. Granted, anything is better than the simplistic endings from the previous games.
I'm one of those purists. When the original voice actors for Dragon Ball Z got replaced with a new set of voice actors half way through the Freeza saga, I was pissed. The original voices were perfect, especially Piccolo's and Vegeta's. Eventually, I got used to them, but I would never forget the original cast.
Here we are today, with the latest Dragon Ball Z game where they've gone and recreated scenes from the series. One of the most pivotal scenes in Internet meme history was recreated in Burst Limit, and well, it just doesn't work out. Take a look for yourself.
And while we're talking about Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit, go enter our OVER 9000!!!! contest over at Destructoid where you can win the game, an Xbox 360 and more!
IT'S OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sure, it's getting a little old now, but it's easily one of my favorite memes of all time. Recently, I had the chance to interview the mastermind behind that meme, Kajetokun. We talked about how surprised he was when the video took off, to his style and what's in store for him in the future.
Hit the jump to read the interview and take a look at a few of his videos too.
"Who could ever imagine? NINE THOUSSSSAAAAAAANNND! Do you remember the "Jumping Onto White Base" episode? So, I have to make a confession- that song got stuck in my brains! I even set it as my ri..."...read more
Chocolate is the latest movie from the director Prachya Pinkawe who has worked on epic movies such as Ong Bak and Tom Yum Goong (The Protector). The movie stars Nicharee Vismistananda who has been training for years in preparation for this role. She plays an autistic girl who goes after gang members to collect debts to help her sick mother. Of course, this causes Thai and Japanese gangs to take notice and go after Nicharee.
The trailer is pretty amazing. I think Nicharee will become a very big action star due to her amazing abilities and that she's not afraid to fight. Towards the end of the trailer, there are some bloopers where Nicharee gets hurt (resulting in stitches) and some of the stunt men get very hurt doing a couple of stunts. Needless to say, I am very excited for this film now. What do you all think about it?
Well now, it seems I have some how become the only guy here to talk about all things related to the Dragon Ball Z movie. Which is not a bad thing at all as I barely write here enough. Anyway, actress Emmy Rossum will be playing the role of Bulma in the DBZ movie along side Jamie Chung, James Marsters, and Justin Chatwin. Some notable movies from her career include, Poseidon, The Day After Tomorrow, and Mystic River.
I've seen The Day After Tomorrow and barely remember her. Granted, that whole movie was very forgettable. Watching the montage above makes me believe she'll be a good character. I wonder if she's going to get violated in the movie ... you know, just like in the cartoon!
"Although I hated Phantom, Gia is right. Rossum is sooooo pretty. I have a thing in general for singers, but pretty musical theatre people make my heart go pitter patter.
... I now disprove of th..."...read more
This is the best looking trailer for a crazy Japanese slasher film that I have evar seen! DRILL BRA + FLYING GUILLOTINE + CHAINSAW + Awesome amount of gore=Machine Girl.
Machine Girl is about a normal High School girl living a perfectly happy life until a Ninja Yakuza family kills everyone she loves and chops of her hand. But does the girl give up on her life? Nope. She fights back by using whatever weapons she can to get revenge and kills every single person that had something to do with her pain. My favorite scene has to be when the Chef is force to eat Sushi that are topped off with his own fingers!
IGN brings more news on the Dragon Ball Z movie. Jamie Chung, an actress who hasn't had very man major rolls, will be playing as Chi Chi, Goku's wife. Actually, the only thing she was "successful" at was appearing in The Real World a bunch of times. At least she's smoking hot, as you can tell by the video of her above.
I really really really hope that they cast James Hong as Master Roshi. This movie would be perfect regardless of whom they cast next if they cast James.
"We will see about movie but if it flops someone well be very mad. Also
Why on earth did they cast an actress that has a record or maybe thats the reason right there for more exposure and talk abou..."...read more
The Dragon Ball Z movie is moving forward with production. Justin Chatwin (the kid who played Tom Cruise's son in the horrible War of the Worlds movie) will be playing Goku while James Marsters, famously known as Spike from the Buffy T.V. series, will be playing Piccolo. Justin has already been in training with 87Eleven who will be the stunt performance company for the DBZ movie and have worked on movies like 300 and The Matrix. It also sounds like Piccolo will be the main villian in the movie.
I just can't see this working. It's bad enough when movie companies think making a movie based on a videogame is a good idea, but to take a cartoon and make it into a live action movie? That just has fail written all over it to me. I love James Marsters, he's a great actor, but I might lose a little respect for the guy when I see him painted green. The one saving grace of all this is that Stephen Chow will be producing the movie. So far, everything he has put out have been amazing. Now that I think about it, maybe this can work. Replace the characters in Kung Fu Hustle with DBZ characters and it may have well been an episode of Dragon Ball Z.
Do any of you think that the DBZ movie has a chance in hell at succeeding?
IGN got word that Manga Entertainment will be releasing the complete collection of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Second Gig on November 20th. The box will sell for $99.97 come in a spiffy looking case.
As a gigantic Ghost in the Shell fanatic as I am, I still haven't watched the entire Second Gig yet so I will be definatly be picking this box set up. This is a great deal too considering that the regular edition DVDs cost about $20 on average -- saving you about $40 overall. I have to wonder why people would purchase the regular DVDs when this is the case almost everytime.
Do you usually wait for the final box or buy the DVDs as soon as they come out?
