Just the other week, we reported that Sony cleaned house by refusing to renew contracts for several major artists. Those affected included names such as The Brilliant Green, Sowelu, and Mai Hoshimura. Very little news has been announced since, however according to a blog post made earlier today by Avex president Masato "Max" Matsuura, Avex has finally signed Sowelu. I had predicted as much, but I was still worried since nothing was for sure, and obviously the artists in question were left off the label for one reason or another, most likely due to lack of sales. Thankfully Avex is a pretty decent label and I'm ecstatic that she's found a new home.

What worries me is that it's been weeks now and still no news for Tomoko Kawase and her various projects. I would certainly hate to see The Brilliant Green fall back into obscurity after they had recently reunited. With any luck Avex, or one of their many sub-labels will step in and remedy that situation. All we can really do is have faith.
