Japan's building another 18m robot statue to destroy us all

Japan is going to kill us all, or at the very least stage a giant robot battle that will end human civilization as we know it.  Ngee Khiong brings news of a second 18m tall robot being built in Japan.  It's not a Zeonic uprising with a 1/1 Zaku statue, but instead the giant robot that started it all, Tetsujin 28.  The statue will go up in Wakamatsu Park in Shinnagata, Kobe, Japan.  It also looks like it's going to be a permanent monument in the park, as it is the project of a NGO commemorating the life of Tetsujn 28 creator Mitsuteru Yokoyama.  The statue itself was also funded by donations from fans, which have been collected since June 17th, 2006.

There look to be no gimmicks for the statue.  It's going to be fixed-pose, no glowing eyes, firing rockets or anything.  It will just be the badass that is Tetsujin 28.  It will be painted in color, so it won't just look like a slab of steel being erected. It's set to be fully completed in August, where it shall stand until I mod my R/C remote and start habitually destroying my way across Asia.  You can check out the progress pictures in the gallery below or the official site.
