Pokemon earns a spot in the Guinness World Records

Much like GReeeeN, last year's film, Pokémon: Giratina and the Sky Warrior, was also recently recognized by the Guinness World Records for having the most advanced ticket sales for an animated movie of all time. It made over 2 billion yen from nearly 2 and a half million in ticket sales last July. Here I was thinking that Pokémon was going out of style too. Obviously it's still a huge draw in Japan, and the show itself just recently started airing in high definition last April.

We can probably count on seeing more Pokémon movies released each summer, as it's core audience tends to have those few months off from class. The next film in the series Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl the Movie: Arceus: To the Conquering of Space-Time, is set to hit theaters in Japan on July 18th, and features a theme based on an upcoming solar eclipse that'll be visible in Japan on July 22nd. Are any of you still die hard Pokémon fans?
