I don’t know where this video was recorded, or who recorded it, but I think I owe this person my first born. The new theatrical version of Evangelion might as well have been produced by SELLE, because a lot of information about these series of movies has been kept lock and key; until now! It looks a lot like the original series, expect with new and improved everything (minus the music). Expect in the future a better quality version of this trailer later; I hope you enjoyed it as much as I.
I didn't wet my pants due to the quality of this. Being an EVA fan myself though, it could have a lot of potential.
its funny, after watching this, I just remembered how static the angels really were. I'm also under the impression that this rebuild is going to make even less sense than the original.
As effective as they were with squeezing every penny out of the animation budget for the series, the high production values of previous movies really made me wish they had more money to begin with. And now if you'll excuse me I need to find a clean pair of pants.
I don't even understand what this video is. It looks like its just a music video. I don't think any of that was new video, just cut from the anime. You got me excited. I thought it was something leaked of the live action movie that they are doing with WETA doing all the computer animation.
Now I'm even more excited for the Rebuild of Eva to come out. Thank you so much for posting this.
Looks pretty good. Even through the bad quality I could tell the improvement in the art and animation from the original series.
You can tell the improvement in quality of animation in the angels more than anything. Note the reflections on Ramiel as a reference. I'm shocked they aren't waiting till September 13-15th since it would let it coincide with Second Impact events in the series.
Buh? I thought this was supposed to be a remake, why does it look exactly the same? Even most of the shots look as though they were taken directly from the old series.
Meh, I don't feel anything. Sure I was a big EVA fan back in the day, but I think I loved it to death too much. I remember writing a psychology paper on the EVA characters in highshool, oh god that was so long ago. I feel old.
As far as I'm concerned this simply looks like it's going to be a animational update to an already stellar series. Did this need to happen? It's a bit like when a game gets updated for a new generation (eg. MGS->MGS:TS or FF:T to FF:T:LW), with the addition of new characters (and how are they really going to fit into the Eva storyline?). Evangelion was the anime that got me into anime, but I really don't see how or why this 'rebuild' is really necessary. I'm much more in favour of the live action version tbf.
Still it'd be nice to see a condensed accessible version of the storyline (hence it making more sense) in these 4 films, although dumbing it down may make it less up to the viewers discretion (I actually liked the ambiguity of EoE).
Though as an Eva fanboy at heart, I'm still excited by these films and I really hope to God they surpass my expectations and re-ignite the passion for Evangelion I had when I first watched the series all those years ago.
The first three movies follow the storyline to the anime, but the 4th movie will be a totally new ending.
Doesn't look that much better to me. You'd think they'd know by now that -no one- wants that shit cover of Fly me to the Moon, either.
This looks GREAT! Wow, can't wait really. I always thought the original show was kinda low in quality in terms of animations. When the movies came out that was what, in my mind, show have been the whole show. Today, thanks to computer animation, I hope that EVA can once again stand on top as an example of good writing, strong plot, interesting characters, and finally quality animation it deserves!
I am eagerly looking forward to the release, which seeing the release date--I will be living in Japan by then. Unfortuantly my Japanese in speech is poor, so if I saw the movie it would be for the pretty pictures.
Looks nice though
the animation looks wonderful ... much improved
im glad they did a good job (from what i can see from the shitty quility) with the CG of the angles ... i was worried it would look like shit

sorry for the double post :\
Utada Hikaru's Fly Me To The Moon is not bad; much better than Hayashibara Megumi's version.
That aside, everything looks just like fan-made; either static-images, original animation or completely unrelated animation; yes, it looks like Tokyo 3 scenes, as anything "big moving in front of the sun" would look.
Fake, that is. A really crappy one.
Frodo Shinji?!?!?
How long has this thing been in production, like three years now?
That in-theater trailer seems to just be made of old clips, and just a teaser rather than actual footage. Looking at some of the other related clips on youtube, seems like there's a movie of some sort on the way.
But yeah, I remember hearing about WETA working on this way back when it was a little baby rumor. I still hope it's true, and that it happens.
i cant stop squeal ands its been 2 hours since ive seen this trailer
