While oh so many of us are impatiently biding our time waiting for the next Haruhi Suzumiya series to start up, it's easy to forget that the first series' memes are still going strong. It doesn't help that the PS2 game was just released. Why can't they just like it die already? I'm starting to think that I want to the new series to premier just so I can stop seeing the old stuff fifty times a day.
Speaking of which, here's the Hare Hare Yukai dance taken from the just releasedPS2 game. It's in lovely cell-shaded 3D and features all of the main characters in fancy future fantasy costumes. I can't help but think of it as a really high quality fan-vid. Ah well. At least it'll give the cosplayers something new to do.
I like how the costumes appear to be designed off of other costumes they wore in the series, such as Mikuru's pink dress is inspired off of her pink maid outfit
I'm not liking the mo-cap, myself. Or the fact that their heads don't move—they're dead straight on the whole time and it just looks odd with the mo-cap.
The fact that this version isn't that much different form the actual ED says alot about the animation quality of the original.
I think Satan himself composed and choreographed Hare Hare Yukai. Why else would it not get old EVER? The Rapture is at hand, people.
Nah. Anime licensed games are only brought over when the property has actually done well here in the states beyond the hardcore fan community. In other words, if it's not getting airtime, you're not going to see much in merchandise that would require a substantial investment to localize, print/manufacture, and then distribute. Also, action oriented games tend to have a much better chance of being brought over, as opposed to licensed RPGs and visual novels. So that's another strike against it.
Ponytail version next!
