Howdy folks, I'm back from my month-long "holy crap I am never going to get all this work done" hiatus to return to my illustrious Jtor posting career. Did you miss me? Don't lie, I know you did! Never fear, if ever I must leave you again, you can pick up issues of Otaku USA and snuggle with them for comfort.
So today, as a show of my undying love for you, the readers, I bring you awesomeness: the first official gameplay trailer for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. Besides showing off the gameplay, which looks like it's going back to the style of the older Vs. series rather than the utter chaos of MvC, it brings us up to speed on the character roster so far.
From the Tatsunoko side:
Ken (Gatchaman)
Casshern (Casshern)
Tekkaman (Tekkaman)
Yatterman One (Yatterman)
Polymar (Hurricane Polymar)
Gold Lightan (Gold Lightan) - unique in that he can only be played solo and has one GIANT lifebar rather than two!
And on Team Capcom...
Ryu
Chun-Li
Alex (Street Fighter 3)
Morrigan (Darkstalkers)
Batsu (Rival Schools)
Soki (Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams) - neat addition, but I hope they didn't pick him over Dante...
This most certainly isn't the full - or final - roster, and we're bound to hear more about new and hidden characters as Capcom issues further information and the game begins testing in Japanese arcades. Until then, enjoy the footage, and start making plans to import the inevitable console release!
[quote]this actually looks better than Street fighter 4.

Ditto on that one. :D
Lightan looks totally awesome, and I like the addition of Soki, which hopefully implies that this will have a wide range of characters instead of another "SF vs. (insert series here)" hack job. Here's hoping for the best!
That's what I HATE about Capcom : they are a cheap company.
Why is it that Banpresto can greet us with a HD trailer for their next SRW (actually they've been greeting us with HD trailers for some time), and Capcom can't even afford a DECENT video to show their game ?
You're the father of the most revered fighting game in the world and you can't even show a trailer with a decent quality ? In 2008 ?
Yeah, shame about the shitty youtube quality. I'm really digging the Gatchaman and Ryu theme remixes though. And the game looks like the frantic fun I loved in the MvC titles.
It looks like a PS2 game, but it's fine because they've done a great job of emulating high res 3rd Strike sprites.
