Cleaning takes a lot out of you, that's for sure. About as much as playing Siren: New Translation can, as well. That game is genuinely scary. I recommend that any of you with a PS3 play the remake -- it's well worth the money.
Tonight, we've got Kanna from 20th Century Boys cast, a group of injuries already happening at Wonder Fest, a new book from a couple of games journalists, a dreadful look at Osaka if an earthquake hit the city, and the president of Pierrot will be appearing at Kinokuniya. Otakon's coming soon, so all the news will likely be saved for then.
So, like usual, head past the jump to see the news.
10 injure themselves on a Wonder Fest escalator [Canned Dogs]
I'm not really here to make fun of this happening. I've nearly seen it happen at the movie theatre in Syracuse, and so it's a surprisingly easy problem to get into. What I do want to talk about is all the Wonder Fest coverage going on over at Tomopop. There's plenty to see over there, like the colored Itoshiki-sensei and the TO LUCKY figma.
President of Pierrot to appear at Kinokuniya NYC [MediumAtLarge]
Usually, I love Peter Tatara. But this is one of those times that I hate him. Why must you torture me, and bring the head of an anime studio (the one that does Bleach) to NYC, and put it during Otakon? I can assure you that the event at Kinokuniya will be a worthwhile one, and so I'm sad to be missing it. I guess I'll just have to survive by meeting JAM Project and others...
Bashcraft and Snow are coming out with Arcade Mania [JeanSnow]
If you've got any interest in Japanese arcades, then I can guess with a good amount of certainty that this book is going to be fantastic. The two writers, Brian Ashcraft of Kotaku and Jean Snow of Game|Life, are both fantastic writers that I have a great amount of respect for both of 'em. Japanese arcades are a totally different beast when you go visit one, compared to any arcade I've been to in the States. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on this whenever I can.
How Osaka could sink during an earthquake [FG]
This may just be a personal interest to me, but this was an interesting little piece on just how devastated the city could be if an earthquake hit it, because so many portions are below sea level. As I'd bike along the Yodo River, there were so many floodgates that, if for some reason they cracked, would cause hell in Osaka. Hopefully this won't happen, as I love the city dearly. Just something to remember after the recent earthquakes in LA.
Kanna cast for 20th Century Boys movie [Ryuganji]
Figured all you 20CB fans would be interested -- I've yet to pick up the manga, as it's a bit expensive when I've still got plenty left to read. Taira Airi will be playing Kanna. Ryuganji has some doubts about the film, which is a bit worrisome. I'd rather just stick with reading the manga, methinks.
